Pdmatthew - Probably In a corner somewhere with a guitar

Ok, I'm going round all my entries in review with this message: I am going away for 1 month (To India) in a Week. In the unlikely even't that anything of mine is picked, please (If it is one of my AWW entries although everyone in the UG should know this anyway) don't assume I have elvised or anything of the sort, just put the entry on hold until September 4th onwards when I'll be back.

And the same with the entry I have in PR, I would appreciate if in the unlikely event of anything of mine being picked, if, It would be held back so I could see its front paging.

Thanks

Ach. No comments on this smiley - ermsmiley - doh

This is really good. I like the title too - it adds to the optimism.
Hope you enjoyed yourself in India and accomplished what you set out to.

Tonsil Revenge (PG)

Heart stopped in the middle of acceleration
A-twitch on the piercing point of teetering time
One step forward into the unknown
One step back into regrettable retreat
Neither step possible
Without breathing again
and breath is just a memory
for the moment

The moment over
The threat gone
the shakes begin their dance
and the emptiness
of filling the next few minutes
is suddenly
slammed full
with the need to find a chair

What should one have done?
What did one do?
It wasn't forseeable
nor will it be repeatable,
except in stunned memory
in that place in the mind
where you put the indefinable.

There will be no bragging.
There will be no regrets.
Just a kind of psychic bruise
that will throb every once in awhile
As a warning?
Or just a reminder of the
blessing of survival?

A prayer will suffice
when you pass the place
where the incident occurred,
though the light you
switch on to see it better
is truly justified
by comfort.

Too many old people (and young) die this way in our so called modern western society, and perhaps elsewhere.

It is a good and timely take on the loneliness and vulnerability of old age.

you're a traveller Father d - how is it returning from India? are you used to switching realities?

judging by the quality of your poem, you are -

read it aloud, several times - the "yer nut n' ol' wuman" stuccato punch right there in the heart of the matter ...well, one of the hearts, as this is a many hearted poem -

to me, anyway, -

thankyou poet

Hi Helen,

One of its darkest hearts in this piece I think. There are many I'm sorry to say in life itself. But there are so many hearts in most of the poetry poetpaul has posted for us again today!

poetpaul has it all weighed-up, does he not?

hullo Ron -

yes sir, poetpaul is as his name suggests -

poets are travellers are they not - from the darkest heart of the dark itself to the mandala heart of the lit up tulip ...

well, that's what I think anyway, sez I

Oh, sorry.
I got caught up in your poem
and the muse hit me.
Old habit of mine on this site.

hey tonsilrevenge -

this is a poem in itself, I think, that merits a place as a Guide Entry? - then I can wax lyrical and attend to its individuality, separate from my dialogue with father d - --

see you in Guide Entries?

Thanks for all the kind words.

The poems were posted over a month a go but I have been away so I posted in all of them to say that I was back. Im just glad people like the poetry.

I am not as travelled as I want to be, but I am young so I have plenty time to travel and have travelled as much as I think Is physically possible for someone only just verging on 20
