End of what?

I look out,
make a glance towards the pavement,
I don't notice the sky,
I don't notice the birds,
the pavement has a crack,
and some dog has not been cleaned up after.

I wake up,
the next day I do nothing,
the same as the day before,
I lie in bed for hours on end,
doing nothing,
contendetly,
lying.

I hear knocks,
I look out of my window,
I hear thuds,
I quickly shove on clothes,
I hear a crash,
I feel my heart stop,
I hear shouts,
Whats going on?

I grab the first thing that comes into my hands,
I creep downstairs,
a man is standing,
surprised,
he says,
"Yer nut n' ol' wuman".

Surprised,
I was to know the last thing I would hear,
would not be the sweet words of a love one,
not the solemn chanting of a priest,
no not a song blasting on the radio,
or a bird chirping,
a dog barking,
a baby crying.

I was surprised,
not to hear the world speak me into my last moment on this earth,
I was surprised,
not to feel it take me.

and where I am now,
I cannot say,
where I am now,
you may be someday.

I lived as I lived,
and you lived as you lived,
and thats how its done,
I wouldn't change a thing,
you saw the world through your eyes,
I saw it through my soul.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
