Actually, my spellchecker says "practise" is an appropriate British spelling (it will only accept practiCe for American English, but will accept it with either C or S for British English).

Ta for that, Bossel.

I'll amend the use of 'we' as suggested.

Re: the gay thing. As a purely subjective statement I would say that I have encountered a disproportionate number of gay people at nude beaches. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the people who make a big deal about being hetero generally are the same people who have a problem with nudism. Generalisations are dangerous, but it does seem as if males who have embraced their own homosexuality have generally done a bit of thinking about their own bodies - and consequently a higher %eg of the gay population are comfortable with nudism.

I'm not trying to suggest that you *have* to be gay to be a nudist, I'm not, or that all gays are automatically stripping off and heading for the beach. I'd hate for that particular para to be misunderstood, but the point is - I think - valid.

The other side of the coin is that even mentioning the topic does tend to reinforce stereotypes, and exclude 'normal' people.

Story: An american friend of mine at a beach one stop along from the nudist area, still in his car. A guy approached him and asked "Is this where the naked people hang out?" On being redirected the next Q was "Are you going there?"

Hard work?

Lounging around on the beach in Fiji, sailing, working out how to download mp3s, anything rather than actually get on with it and finish an entry. And it still got there in the end. Wow!

Hope you had a good new year - I spent mine in Napier, home of Loonytunes. It turns out that he is actually the unbeaten nude arm wrestling champion of his city - even after challenging famous rugby players. Now how do I get that into the entry retrospectively?

All the best, and thanks for the encouragement.

I have a lot to say about the role of chance but for the moment it's enought to quote the great god DNA:

In an infinite universe, such as the one in which we live, anything is possible.

It's even possible that I'll finish my university project, edited by the Loony. If I do we'll invite you to the celebration party in Wellington.

PS Did you get the note about the stealth ship?

Umm, yeah, the University project... yes, I got the note about stealth and did collect some web links etc... it's just that I need a final in the you-know-where to finish the whole thing before it explodes into 20-something entries. Besides, I'm sooo busy elsewhere on the site and offline, and I'm a procrastinator anyway, and... smiley - winkeye
