lil, can I borrow Rod the Carpet to hide under
>>Is 'soon' over yet?<< - how long is a piece of string?
Sorry, I'll be serious.
This is one of those Entries that seemed like a good idea at the time, but it grew and grew until it was so huge, I couldn't comfortably handle it, and it became a bit of a burden. Now someone has dug it up from the depths of PR, (holds up right hand and swears) I will make a concerted effort to make those finishing changes, and to complete the Sharpe TV films Entry too. (but not right now, my partners just come in from work, and wants his turn on PC)

To add a bit more frivolous behaviour
"how long is a piece of string"
How High is a Chinaman
Did you give serious thought to turning it in to a uni project?

"Richard Sharpe is 6ft tall with dark hair, he has a scar on his right cheek, which gives him a mocking look."
My English teacher always said that written English was going down the drain, and the main culprit was the comma splice (using a comma when a comma is not grammatically appropriate). I think it's accepted in most circles now, but the stickler in me would ask you to change it. The first comma could be substituted for a full stop or semicolon.
for splitting hairs. I mentioned it because I'm terrified the sub wouldn't pick it up when the entry finally fights its way out of PR. Other than that, this is a really great entry.

Fair enough Emm, I know how you feel there are times I wished I hadn't started something

whereas I'd say the second comma could be left out completely otherwise you have two short, jerky sentences. Which I hate.
the subs are pretty good at their jobs so I think we can leave the commas to them (on a monster entry like this, I think it's better than having the grammar & punctuation done in PR)
for this, Em... it's getting somewhere I think!

Okay Reffgirl
laconian & Sho, I've removed the second comma. (Kat used to say I was erratic with commas )
I think I'm up-to-date on everyone's comments and suggestions.

ah, you needn't have bothered about the comma.
This weekend I'm going to read this fab entry again.

Does Sharpe's Devil really belong in the 'Peninsular War' list? Isn't it set in South America after the end of the war?

Sharpe's Devil is where he comes face to face with Napoleon isn't it?

Yes, on the voyage to Chile. I think it was Chile. It's a long time since I read it.
