Basically this is my second short story and I'm not quite certain whether this follows the correct form or not.

This looks like the beginning of a scary short story to me.
As in your first short story, you need to develop some characters.
Perhaps a party from earth come and look at the dragonfiles because they are beautiful and vegetarian, but they develop a taste for flesh. 
I liked the comment about karoake!
