This, the town of my birth, is as yet unrepresented in the Guide and I think it should be. Thank you. Comments anyone?

Ssorry it has taken so long to get back to you. This Entry seems to give a little glimpse of what it is like to go there. Maybe a little bit on a couple of the pubs and/or restraunts, the weather, the surrounding country, and how to get there would round it off a bit. What are the people like? will they sit and talk to you? or will they all start speaking Welsh when a stranger enters the bar? (no offence meant) This is a good start, and should be alright for getting into the Edited Guide Well, until later....

I agree - it needs a little more personal insider info. Some helpful hints on the best place to get a pint and put my feet up for the night - or a good place to take photographs. Not a bad little entry - but it could use more spice.

Hello,
Well. This is way down in Peer Review, and I think it could use more commentary, so I'm dredging it back up to the top. Anyway, comments people?
Yours,
Jake

Still think you need more info... None of these places seem to have names - which pubs rent rooms? What's the name of the industrial museum?

Sorry! I've been a bit lazy with this one. You know how it is - you think of a more interesting entry and end up devoting your time to that instead! I'll try my best to update this majorly over the next few days.

Nice to see some more Welsh places getting into the Guide!
I vaguely remember that Dic Penderyn (hanged for his part in the Rebecca Riots) may have been buried somewher around Aberdare. Or was it Aberavon? I will find out!
Perhaps you could expand the article by referring to the industry that formed Aberdare and so many similar valleys towns. Also, exactly where is it? Is it near the "English National Football Stadium" in Cardiff? (before I get any flak, this is a joke!)
Pubs? Cafes? What is the weather like in winter?

Whoops - when I read the article I missed the first paragraph about where it is. Mea Culpa.

'more, more' cries the crowd... so which are the places recommended for a lunch or dinner please?

I stayed in Aberdare for about a month, about 3 years ago. I was a shopfitter at the time, fixing up their Abbey National Bank.
Unless things have changed hugely in Aberdare, what this entry lacks is the sense of what it feels like to be in Aberdare. It's an ok town, although there seems to be high unemployment and the town carries a heaviness about it. I know it's not fact, but that's what it was like to be there, to me. If you disagree, that's fine.
In all the towns and cities that I went to over a period of about 4 years, Aberdare is very memorable in the fact that despite the sense of depression there (economic) people are still coping and enjoying themselves (it did have quite a lively nightlife). Perhaps I've spoken out of turn, for someone who lived and grew up there will be far more knowledgable about it than me. But I thought I would add my experiences.
BTW, we stayed in the big pub on the corner of the main street - I forget what it's called, but it was nice. The food was good. Hasn't it got an Indian restaurant too? My memory fades!
I like the simple description, but I think you need to pad it out a lot more.

Hey there, Jamie!
What do you think of Ad&Trees comments above? Are you still interested in pursuing peer review with this entry? I think it has *lots* of potential, but agree that it could use a bit more content.

I'm beginning to wonder whether the author is awol, or has given up. But, then again, I'm just plain impatient! LOL

Well, it appears to have been about a month and a half since he's posted in forums here. And he missed his last scouting picks. My vote would be that he's AWOL, and that we should shuffle this one over to the Wriing Workshop. What say you?
