To dock is to remove the tail of an animal (i.e. de-tail). And a detail is a (vague!) synonym for an item. It's another verb/adjective double-meaning thing.

Verb/noun, not verb/adjective, but still a double meaning...

And onto todays ones!

Clue: A classic dream once shattered
Answer: Decameron
I can see this is an anagram of 'dream once', but I assume my knowledge is lacking here as I haven;t a clue what a 'decameron' is!

Clue: They may be black or white pelts
Answer: Peppers
I can see the black or white bit, but what is the pelts bit about?
Or is it that peppered describes a black/white mottled fur? Not an animal person it must be said!

Peppers/Pelts meaning to throw or shoot lots of small things at a target.

The decameron (apparently) is a collection of 14th century short stories - a 'classic' in the literature sense, I suppose.

Hmm, a tad highbrow i'd have thought for the freebie morning newspaper!

I'll let myself off not getting that one!

Boccacio's Decameron is more than that. It is a collection of bawdy stories similar to Chaucer's Tales of Canterbury and many of them are the same basic story. I can't remember if it's based on dreams, though.

Nah, it's simpler than that. You get black peppers and you get white peppers. "Pelts" is already covered as a synonym for "peppers" as in "throws things at someone".

In that case, forget the second link. I don't think that was a very good one. Or are there subtleties I missed?
