>>Eight - (seven/seven) = seven
Nice try, but the numbers are all different. Sorry if I didn't make that clear earlier.

And at the risk of giving away my little puzzle entirely:

Yes and no. All the names of the numbers have five letters in them, which isn't quite the same thing.

The name of one of my favourite numbers is Stephen.
Hmmm. Not a very good entry for Numberwang though.
I'll go with 16.

But oddly, you are thinking in the right kind of way.
I repeat my my first clue:
12

With that nifty 11/9 I'll counter with...
1.57079632679489661923132169163975 (or pi/2)

the number 12 has six letters in the name, though. So how is that a clue?
Numberwang
Geggs Posted Feb 28, 2007
There is another name for 12. That's all I'm saying.
And:
20

Ah, you've got the right idea. Keep thinking on that line, and you've got all the numbers you need to solve the puzzle.
And a number that is not a clue in any way, despite having five letters:
7

Uncle Ghengis Posted Feb 28, 2007
Ok....
How about
Dozen - ( Forty / Eight ) = Seven
OR
Score - ( Gross / Dozen ) = Eight
Two possible answers!???
Numberwang
Geggs Posted Feb 28, 2007
Well done, Uncle Ghengis, you've cracked the puzzle.
The second one is the answer I have. The first answer you gave didn't occur to me. And especially well done on finding it. I'd like to award you a numberwang for that, but it really has to be for a single number.
So, given that there are 7 numbers in your post, do you want a numberwang for dozen, forty, eight, seven, score, gross or two? Just say and it is yours!
