I got a phone call from Scorp last night, apparently she went round the Boating Lake last week on the recommendation from my (original) journal, she didn't know I'd expanded it to an Entry and submitted it here. I asked her to post here when she returns to h2g2smiley - ok

She did ask what the yellow webbed footprints were for, good job I mentioned them in the Entry eh?smiley - biggrin

smiley - biggrinYes, that's the best feedback of all, that someone enjoyed a place on your recommendation, hopefully this Entry will attract more visitors when it's part of the EG.

A really special entry GB; particularly for me as SS and I went there only last Friday and I hadn't read your article then.

As you know, we have been regular visitors to the area for many years now and as I read your article it brought back so many memories: The old zoo; where there were American sun bears and a beautiful elephant seal (which sadly died from choking on a plastic bag). I also remember there was a mini train - have some photos somewhere.

I noticed that on the lake there is now quite a sizeable colony of graylag geese as well as the canada ones.

We looked at the wind farm through binoculars, climbed Ross castle and read the dedication, we also looked at the RAF memorial.

I then took SS around the Jungle - like you he adores meercats - and ended up with an Apple*** ice cream from the car park.

One extra thing I noticed for the Summer - if you visit cleethorpes by train, you can also get the road train from near the station/pier and get as far as somewhere near the leisure centre - or is it further?

Anyone would have thought that I was carrying your article around for guidance, because it is so thorough and I can confirm it is also correct.

Very Very well done smiley - applause

From reading the most recent postings, I feel that it is most important to point out that although we are very familiar with Cleethorpes, if GB had not started her article, we should never have known about the refurbished lake (wouldn't have gone down near Pleasure Island); and had she not taken me to The Jungle last year, would not have known of its existence either.

Not at all relevant GB; but can you remember that 'eat as much as you can' restaurant being called the bird's nest?

Thanks everyonesmiley - biggrin I am very happy this sailed through and went down well (enough of the boat analogies, already!)smiley - rolleyes

Yes, paily, I gave them a selection to choose from yesterday and they picked my favourite, which appears to have been slapped on the PR-version A37053524 in error. Oh well, it'll all be alright in the end so why worry?
