I'm new with grasses. Do you sometimes add a bit to the hole before the root-clumps? A bit of meal, fertilizer, peat, anything like that to give them a head-start?

Yes, just some compost to fill in the hole. Its smoother and fills in without leaving air pockets which can cause a plant to die. Then just firm down like this. 'demonstrates firming in round the plant with my hands' After that just some water. smiley - smiley

'plants some more grasses'

As soon as i can. I want to make a start before the weather warms up and the ground dries out. Of course it also depends on how arthur is behaving too. smiley - erm

Even with the recent spate of mild weather, the frost won't be out of our soil until atleast early April. Sometimes as late as the last of May.
