Oh, I also thought you might like to add something about reference material. Any model-maker worth their salt will get books about what they want to make. That way you can make your model even better than the 'serving suggestion' on the box! There's a multitude of model making magazines available at newsagencies too that are full of handy tips and articles on specific models. If you feel up to it too you can also join model making clubs and even exhibit you models and enter competetions too! You might get a special cup for that 1/72nd scale Spitfire you did to go up on your shelf with the ribbon for finishing the cross country! Anyways, I think that's all for now
Have a play around with Guide ML Gorg (the best play to do it is on your Personal Space, have a look at some of the other Personal Spaces on h2g2 to see what you can do

*rolls about the floor like a Mr Wobble after eating all that cake* by god man, are you trying to fatten me up for Xmas?
No problem, keep at it. I had a few other ideas as well, but bear with me while I remember them.
Oh yeah. I know your Entry is mostly about plastic aircraft models and perhaps military models in general, however, you might like to mention in brief WarGaming Models (there are LOADS - Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, Heroclix, Dungeons and Dragons. Just go into any Games Workshop shop and you'll see 'em all).
There are also the 1/32nd Historex Military Figurines (mostly Napoleonic but there are others) which come in both plastic and lead/pewter types. (as do the Wargaming figurines). Then there's the Verlinden models that come in 1/12th and 1/8th size. I mention these as lead/pewter model painting is slighty different to plastics modelling. Someone else metioned airbrushing too as a type of paint application, a footnote about that might be an idea, then you don't have to go crazy explaining it)
There's other models too other than just military. Racing cars/bikes. Civilian aircraft. And Railway pieces too.
The subject you've chosen is a huge one, but I sure as heck reckon you're up to the task
Take your time, and when's it's perfect I'm sure it'll be snapped up into the Edited Guide.

"Put a bit of glue onto your cutting surface" -- does that mean your cutting mat? Isn't there a danger of it getting onto the next bit you put down to cut? Special glue offcut advisable?
That toothpick advice is exactly what I needed to know.
Never heard the word "sprue" before. Sprue, sprue . . . mmm lovely.

Yes it does mean cutting mat etc. If you put it in the corner you wont get it on anything-and don't forget it is there. Sprue is the proper name for the frame that the peices are on.
