Things that my h2g2 has stopped me doing :
putting the laundry away (towering pile of the stuff stacked in one corner, leaning menacingly)
college work (well, I did 5 minutes of it this morning...)
putting the bins out (I got round to this one but about 2 days too late)
getting to work on time (oops - the joys of flexi-time)
watching Eastenders (this is serious)
world domination (oh, I'll do that next week)

When you have achieved world domination, I hope that you won't forget us here at H2G2...

..on the back-burner, my plans to get a real life before the end of the millenium, either the popular end or the pedantic end, both seem a far dream now

So if h2g2 wasn't draining away all our free time and energy, what exactly would we be doing to get a real life...
I would live in a cleaner flat and watch more telly - great!
how would we plan to get a real life if h2g2 wasn't the 'obstacle'?

...if we didn't have H2G2 as an obstacle we would invent another one. TV, lack of money, low self esteem, anything. That is the problem with addictive personalities, and why I held off getting a home PC so long. I knew I would be trapped by something like H2G2. I've been there before. The results slip of my first degree (9 Fs, zero credits) from 1986 testififies to the power of on-line chat (remember NEWT at 'Lanchester' anyone?)

...now that's odd. I DID not capitalize the word DEEP above or put the other pretend end tag in at the begining. And I thought these forum posts were plain text.........me thinks the H2G2 parser is doing something somewhere......

I guess it's got to be doing something to make the smileys so smiley. I've had stuff in other posts go completely bonkers - but that might have been the booze.
O yes - I guess if h2g2 didn't have its hold on me I'd proabably spend more time in the pub - probably more expensive than the outrageous phone bills.

Bluebottle Posted Nov 8, 1999
I know for a fact I would, but now I've got a H2G2 pub to go to, so posting to the Forum & Firkin takes up my time, and gives me a social life too - but without the hangover.

Um.. embarrassing phographs eh? Oh dear.. you shoud always remember to hide in the dark corners whenever phototgrahs are likely.
The worst ones though are always the ones you never knew were being taken (esp when at work) - oh yes, that might look like me snogging the photocopier, but I'd actually just lost a contact lens
