Are you saying I don't think therefore I am not?

PedanticBarSteward Posted Dec 17, 2005
Haven't we been here before? As to - what DO I think - I thought I had made that quite plain hadn't I. Didn't I make it clear that if you claim to have six or more friends - you are dluding yourself? Isn't it probable that the GWSW&WAS has many fewer than six members - worldwide? Is that not perfectly clear?

It is now, thankyou for so simply clearing that up. Now, I wonder what new subject we could talk about?

Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Dec 17, 2005
Nick. Can we go back to the subject "The meaning of life"? Could we include views on, the purpose of life? Do most people think that the only purpose in living is to get as rich as possible?

PedanticBarSteward Posted Dec 17, 2005
Isn't the meaning of life enjoying a game of bowls, playing snooker a little better than you expected to and pitting your wits and skill against the wind, tide and water? Isn't the real meaning of life to be able to look in the mirror and say to yourself, I haven't done too much wrong and I have helped someone?

Did you know your questions sometimes come over a bit hostile?

PedanticBarSteward Posted Dec 17, 2005
I am sorry - unintended but didn't you realise that my REALLY hostile posts are reserved for the sarcasm only thread? However, would your really expect anything different from a pedantic (old) barsteward?

PedanticBarSteward Posted Dec 17, 2005
Breeding, upbringing, education and then real life - will that do as an answer?
Questions only.
Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Dec 17, 2005
P.B.S. I like that answer.
It shows that you are not vain. Do you ever see any other side of your personality? Have you ever met someone who is as perfect as yourself?

Fatima - my wife - never went to school, cannot read or write, has worked since the age of three, brought up her entire tribe, speaks four languages (sort of) and has the wisdom of trees - I am but a product - she made herself; can such a thing make you feel small and reflect?
Questions only.
Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Dec 18, 2005
"Brought up her entire tribe." Is that what you meant when you said "breeding"? (Post 213) Have you really been that busy?
Questions only.
PedanticBarSteward Posted Dec 18, 2005
Does a tribe only include one's own children?
Questions only.
PedanticBarSteward Posted Dec 20, 2005
Isn’t the definition of ‘tribe’ group noun (C) 1. a group of people, often of related families, who live together, sharing the same language, culture and history, especially those who do not live in towns or cities – Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary? Whilst one’s own children are certainly members of the tribe – can’t you still be a member without having any children at all?

Dene - specialist in red herrings Posted Dec 20, 2005
Meanings of words are always changing. Some people refer to their own children, as their tribe. If that meaning comes into common usage, will it not be included in the dictionary as a new definition?
