I have always found buzzards to be a bit haughty, I think they would prefer you to tug your forlock or raise your hat to them
That is an amazing walking tale, and the way you tell them, I love it

to this thread.
We have a flock of buzzards now. They appear daily behind our building, and often perch in the trees, on on the tall pylon in the little valley. We think they're magnificent. Elektra thinks the crows are jealous, because now, they aren't the largest birds in the neighbourhood. The crows come to the ground outside our door, though, to eat what we put out, while the buzzards let themselves be admired from afar.
Elektra worries about the buzzards. She's afraid their feet will be cold from perching on the pylon. She thinks she should get them some foot warmers, like tea cosies. I think she would make them, if she could knit.

I like watching buzzards. We see them riding the air currents over the South Downs. There weren't any when we arrived in Sussex, so that's a conservation success.
I don't think I'd want to get too close to them though. I've heard rumours of them attacking cyclists, apparently confusing the moving hair of a cyclist from above for a rabbit. ?

I looked up your buzzards. They're hawks. We have those, too, and they're pretty, but we wouldn't be happy with them if they perched on the pylon. They might eat our squirrels and s. When hawks and eagles show up, everybody hides until they go away.
These are our 'buzzards':

They're really vultures, and they only eat carrion, so they don't bother the smaller creatures.
They look beautiful when they fly:

These are the ones that show up annually in Hinckley, Ohio, and at Gettysburg, spooking the natives.

Who says poetry is dead? Who?
Yesterday's inaugural ceremonies for President Barack Obama included the reading of a poem by Richard Blanco. I really liked this poem. Tell me what you think:

He's from Maine. I've gotta go write a footnote......

Sorry to triple-post like this, but I thought you might want a link to Robert Blanco, so you could read his other poetry:

His stuff is real evocative and makes you wanta cry, sometimes. But it is enjoyable and since I am not knowledgeable about poetry, it must be something special to move me the way his stuff does.

Wow, beautiful poetry! Richard Blanco! Thanks! I never heard of him before, now I love Richard Blanco! Thanks for the link! I must catch up on the Ceremony.
I have, to date, only seen two excerpts from the Inauguration Ceremony, both from the TV in the gym, without the sound, one was the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, who looked amazing, and then I saw James Taylor! What did he sing? I have to catch up on these matters. . Barack is so cool, , with Bruce Springsteen singing at an election rally, and now James Taylor at the inauguration, and Barack gets to give them both a brotherly hug. That is one cool President.
Now, I must catch up on the buzzard situation ....
Back in a minute .....

Mommeee! , those are scary vultures! Fine fellows though. I've never seen a vulture. What would I say? I could talk about Gettysburg, all I know about Gettysburg is from Steve Earle's lyrics from his song Taneytown, from the album El Corazon.
I think the vulture might be interested, perhaps not though. It might try to eat me.
Buzzards with tea cosy socks on? That's so funny. . Yes, I think they are a bit proud and haughty, eh? Bit choosy about the colour of sock, perhaps?
I didn't know that, mvp about how there weren't buzzards in Sussex, and now you see them over the South Downs, that makes me think so much about the South Downs.
The first time we saw a buzzard here in Devon, way back when in the 80s, I thought it was an eagle, except the spouse, who has seen a Golden Eagle in the Highlands, like, right up close, standing on a rock!, considers himself to be an eagle expert, so he knew it wasn't one, and he thought it was a vulture.
Ah, buzzards in Somerset ... I can picture them wheeling over the Tor ...
Perhaps this thread has kept going so long because the bar is open 24/7 . Also because you are all very amazing and heartfelt people, and I'm here for the knowledge, the smiles, the hope, the company, the the , the glory of story.
I had another weird experience. It's about infinity. . Next posting. I must rest mine eyes.

I think Blanco's poem is a considerable achievement -it's accessible, moving, inspirational, yet not pompous.

Oh dear, after all that impressive poetry...
You get my poem that doesn't make much sense - A 87783709. I've included at least some of the things in cactuscafe's story idea but
I could only make it work by taking all the rhymes out.
Then I tried to format it in GuideML, because the usual P tags don't really work for poetry. I got in a tangle with it, lost the lot at least once, but in the end, it sorted itself magically.

I love it. I said that already, over there, hm...
Heh-heh, I'm making a copy for the Post. Let me take a look at that GuideML.

mmm Nice spinach.
Now, where was I ...
Heavens, mvp, this is splendid! What a wonderful tale, and written all poetic like you do, I just love those twining carvings in the four poster, they make me crazy, in a good kind of a way. I can see them. And it's so great, the ending, about returning home after the journey, this moves me.
Thankyou!

I was wondering if the cooking pot, could have been be left with the kindly man
not suggesting writing, just me meandering
It was a cooking pot given with good intentions, but misplaced
It would be gifted, not as something unwanted, as a thank you, an acknowledgment that this was a good cooking pot,the cooking pot would find where it should be and be accepted as such
perhaps the kindly man would cook for himself and/or other travellers in this pot, or will find the someone that needs a good pot for the path they are on, it will be the perfect pot for them
Ella goes home, knowing where her heart is, her sense of belonging but with also that things are necessarily changing but that is ok
maybe???
It has taken me ages to write that, and I was going to say that Ella goes home, potless
I haven't had a spliff in ages and now one would be really nice, and I'm potless
Key: Complain about this post
