Phil

I've not yet listened to the audio clip from Lil yet but I do know that just as the brain can make up things from patterns it sees or part sees, it can do the same with what it hears (and one assumes tastes and touches). There has been some work done on this but I don't know if anyone has looked at the neuroscience behind it.
For some examples look at http://www.philomel.com/index.php and some of the pages on that site.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

Well, that was exciting. Third power cut in three months.

They're a bit like buses, don't have any for months and then they all come at once. Most odd that it only affects half the street, attached next door neighbour had power, but the unattached one didn't. At least it only lasted an hour and this time I *wasn't* in the middle of cooking tea, in the dark, by candlelight. smiley - biggrin

Overcast here and varying forecasts for snow tomorrow. Probably just on the hills with a bit of luck. Wonders where Spring has sprung.

Oh, lawks, they've announced the date of the Scottish Referendum. I am haivng to batten down the hatches as some of my friends are die-hard Nats and some are die-hard Unionists. And they are friends of each other as well.

I know how I shall vote. I know my reasons for my choice. I have no intention of discussing it with anyone during the next 18 months. But it's going to be tough not to join in as the fights start heating up.... smiley - sadface

Ben, I feel your pain! This side of the pond, we no sooner have a general election than the discussion slumps (very briefly), followed by ramped up rhetoric all over again. They're already making predictions about 2016 elections, and the discussion about 2014 never even flagged... smiley - rolleyes

One last comment on science and belief, then I'll shut up -- over the years I've read a fair amount about parallel universes, which are hinted at in the physics behind String Theory. I'm perfectly okay with thinking that what we call smiley - ghost are just places where the walls between alternate universes are thinner, so we sense bits that aren't really in ours. smiley - smiley

Isn't it always the case that the key to a relationship is not to look for perfection, but to find someone whose faults you can tolerate? smiley - winkeye

I finally found someone who can tolerate my faults smiley - ermsmiley - biggrin and for that, I'm ready to tolerate a variety of quirks. Collecting, renovating and selling Scandinavian chairs from mid 1900's, for example.

Who ordered this white stuff, we don't do snow over here, not off the hills anyway, but today there's oudles of the stuff. Had to use the little Jimny to go to a funeral and take Mrs WA shopping for essential supplies. Spring please, pretty please. Can somebody tweet God or something.

Lord, but I am sleepy today. I am not sure if it is because I had a HUGE lunch (a veggie chili burrito from Illegal Jacks) or if I am brewing a migraine. Either way, I shall go home and go to bed. We're battening down the hatches for bad weather, Z's got to work 48/7, and I've got more than enough to keep me off the streets and out of mischief.
