Absolutely, nothing more inspiring of an afternoon, than free floating gossip. Has everyone been to see Star Wars yet?

Me and the girl got tickets a week or so ago to see Star Wars in The Odeon Leicester Square - thought it deserved the massive screen they have there.
I've been avoiding watching any clips on the TV. They should have a brief anouncement "If you don't want to know the result of 3 years of fantasy CGI creation, look away now"...

P.S. We're seeing it on Monday 26th - can't bloody wait!

Saw it Friday. Fabulous. Jar Jar was annoying, though. He kept talking all the way through, and rustling his popcorn. That's the last time I go to the cinema with a CGI character.

Avoid everything. I've seen it now, so I can go back and see all the stuff I had to video and not watch. The Omnibus two weeks ago was great, but it had tons of bits from the film, so I'm glad I didn't watch it before.
And the 'Making of TPM' book has a precis of the whole plot at the beginning, so best avoid that.

What plot? It was one of the worst films I have ever seen and although the special effects were sometimes outstanding Lucas obviously kept painting himself into a corner and resorted to some pathetic old escape routes for his characters. I'm glad I slept through the first 3 films.

Worse than 'Johnny Mnemonic'? Worse than 'Color of Night'? Worse than 'Robocop 3'? Worse than 'Batman and Robin'?
C'mon - we need a benchmark here.

I thought it was great, as long as you keep your little-kid hat on firmly at all times. You have to remember that as big people, we are only there because of the little person inside us (and I'm not talking about the toddler I had for lunch). I'm sure if I was 9 I'd be overwhelmed by the intricacies and bizarre twists in the plot, orv is that disturbances in the force?
Besides... WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE TELLING BEELINE ALL ABOUT THE FILM!!!!
Sorry Beeline...

Ok here is the benchmark. It is as bad as Waterworld! And that was pretty terrible. And I do have a little kid side (I am afterall off to see Southpark on Saturday and just how childish do you want me to be) it's just I don't find star wars childishly good!

And that's fine because we are all entitled to our opinion. I'm just trying to be a lone voice providing some balance on this forum.

Ah, but you thought the race bit was ok, and erm.. well.. one of the adverts before it started was good...

It's difficult being a lone voice. For example, I liked Hudson Hawk when everyone else hated it. On the other hand, when all the critics were raving about Cape Fear, I thought it was an average horror movie.
OK folks, what are your *favourite* movies?

Ooh Where do I begin? There is Bringing Up Baby, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Lady Killers but if you want something modern it would have to be Schindler's List. One of the very few films that has left me speechless and pretending I'm not crying, I just have something in my eye!

Hudson Hawk IS good, it's nice to see Richard E Grant play a villian every now and then. Best movies though, Withnail and I, The Princess Bride, Dune, Excaliber, Much Ado About Nothing and A Room With A View.

Anything in colour? Anything?
That's a good list. After I saw Arsenic and Old Lace for the first time I couldn't go up the stairs without yelling 'Chaaarge.'
You like Cary Grant? How about 'His Girl Friday'?
