You can call me TC

To this day, I haven't had mumps, although my father was dead against us having injections for any of those illnesses, and I was sleeping in the same room as my sister when she had it. Chicken pox is relatively harmless, although some kids scratch the pocks and are scarred for life - but even those are only a little dent in the skin after a while. I can remember chicken pox both when I had it myself and when my kids had it - it was quite fun, really, because you don't really feel ill, except for the itching. It is best if both kids have it at the same time, though, but I'm not sure about babies. In fact, I think my mother put us both in bed together so whoever had it first gave it to the other, in order to get it over with.

Hope you don't have too much trouble with whiney children and demanding babies!

Sol

They say the infectious period is about 3 weeks before the spots appear, and once the spots are there then it's already too late for any preventative (or non preventative) measures.

Not true of thing like mumps though. Ah the good old days before the MMR vacine where everyone would be forced to visit the chil;d first infected so that we could get it all over with. I remember our class had quite the everybody has got it party fr mumps, for example, when we all went down together from just that method and had a lovely time watching TV round each other's houses until we got better.

I always thought that although chickenpox could have a three week incubation period the actual infectious time was a few days before the spots appeared until they start to scab over smiley - yuksmiley - ill
