has been cast as a king in his class nativity
the preschool provide a king costume
but the crown has to be home made
so now we're looking for bits and bobs to decorate a crown (red preferably) and some gold card
won't sing any of the Christmas songs at home so we have no idea what is to come
but I do plan on going to hobby-craft and hoping they have what I want
but there might be some in the works I'll have to go and have a look
not feeling very festive yet, I think unfortunately that the more I see being sold for Christmas the more commercialism that there is then the less festive that I feel, I said unfortunately because you may have noticed that all the shops are full of glittery shiny pricey you must buy this bits of essentially junk....
why would I wan't a giant cracker for six people... why because it's for sale of course, why would I want a one foot tall day glow pink tree? because commerce says I do
it's not really Christmas it's an exercise in spending money
I expect I won't feel festive till we've baked the gingerbread and decked the halls

One of the most galling things about pre-christmas shopping for me is when you see, for example, a TV priced at £300 and yet from Boxing day onwards, right into January, you see the same tv in the sales at £100. (just a random example for illustration purposes only )
If they can afford to discount by this amount the day after christmas then why not before? They'd get better sales figures to start with and it won't look so blatant that we, as consumers, are being ripped off.

I have to agree with you BMT
perhaps we should all move Christmas back a week so we can actually afford the things we would like

Because Russians celebrate New Years Eve and Orthodox Christmas (7th Jan) and not at all the 25th, I do get to move Christmas back a week. I have a deliberate policy of splitting my son's presents so I get to take advantage of the sales.
Of course, that does mean my festive season goes on and on and on and Father Christmas comes three times, but...
