clzoomer- a bit woobly

I must recommend this book by Charles Stross, it's a fascinating sf novel in the post-Neuromancer style (fascinating if you're into that sort of thing I guess). Anyway, I find it very engaging since it takes the internet to it's ultimate conclusion and throws in the ultimate conclusion of today's predatory *free-market* economic system. Good stuff. And you can actually download it free (with a few restrictions): http://www.accelerando.org/book/ if you don't mind associating with a Microserf site.

All and all this brings me to my present involvement with the internet. I enjoy skimming blogs, following seemingly aimless threads and trying to settle internal *bets* I make with myself about things I only half remember. That, email and the occasional urge to actually contribute is my present modus operandi (goes off to Google that to see if it's the proper spelling and is disappointed that the first hit is Wikipedia). Yes I know I have online work to do (Hi Az!) smiley - tongueout and I know I should interact more, but RL is busy, busy, busy right now and has been for months. I've just finished 12 days straight of interviewing children and their parents (finding a little time in hotels and motels to surf) and next week I start preparing for the Gemini awards (sort of a Canadian combination of most of the US award shows). So why do I feel guilty? I don't think anyone would be interested if I started a blog, my life really isn't that interesting and some of it would be an intrusion of privacy of others. I just miss the days when I could putter about on Hootoo and dip my toes in some pools or jump right in others. The pools are still there, hot and cold, I just seem to have lost some of my interest and most of my time.
Have patience, gentle reader- I have not yet joined the procrastinator's group A431911 but I am still not interesting enough to blog.

smiley - cheers

smiley - boing Thanks zoomer, definitely have to add that to my list! Two topics I can very readily relate to: the internet & the 'predatory *free market* system'(and if I pick up the inferrance, the acceleration of both). Certainly some fertile ground to be plowed & seeded there, so to speak - on both sides of the thematic fence. Not to mention the removal of said fence.smiley - winkeye

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

If it bears even a passing resemblance to Neuromancer, then count me in smiley - cheers
