I really don't want to do this...

Please remove my name and U number from the entry about making your space digibox friendly. I do not condone the way informing Telewest was discussed on site(read my journal if you're curious). But, I simply must protest the spamming and nastiness that is occurring by people wanting the digibox users back. I will chat nicely with anyone who does the same. But, I will not blindly support a cause that promotes nastiness. Nor will I watch this site trashed. I am too much a fan of Douglas Adams to do that. And, I do remember him being alive and posting here.

[Well not really as the smiley is too cheerful] It is your decision and i will respect it...
There are just several things that i would like to say first:
a) I might have actually managed to convince the spammer to stop his spamming [link available on demand] several hours ago when i went to his new account and suggested that a more legal/by the book method be used... Emmily [who is an Ace and Guru] posted as well there... And i believe that our understanding of the person's anger did _more_ than the many [on the verge of flaming] postings from some other people to him...
b) He actually replied to my postings and was adamant that his problem with aka and Saturnine had _nothing_ to do with the digibox problem... Something from the past it seems... Again, i can post the link if you want...
c) I have also posted advices to those who were angry and upset by the telling to Telewest to not respond in an emotive manner to any provocation... While i failed a few times to follow my own advice, i still restrained myself from posting as much as i would like on the subject since as, a few days ago, i was ready to pack it in and i have been convinced that i would be more useful by staying...
d) Yes, there have been a lot of nastiness these last days but this group has _never_ promoted or condoned nastiness, on the contrary...
The fact that a few persons have been using antisocial methods to get back at two specific researchers should not be seen as a "proof" that we are all behaving that way or that we all believe that it is the way to do things [I personally resent that as i have been on this site for almost two years and have always respected this site... My record regarding none of my posts being moderated (apart for one having _one_ word edited) speaks for itself i would think]...
I could go on i suppose, but if you have made your mind up that our cause promotes nastiness then there is not much i can say apart that, if i follow the same logic [ie a few people behaving badly = all of us being nasty], i could say that from what i've experienced lately i believe that _all_ the Researchers on this site are prejudiced as after all that was what really started this sad affair... But, because i know that a few misguided souls do _not_ represent the majority, i won't...
Having said that, i still intend to challenge some issues which have been conveniently swept aside by some Researchers... But i will always do so by the book even if it can be very frustrating at times...
Hmmmmm.... about this lengthy posting... It just that i haven't expressed my feelings on here about this affair for quite a while now... Don't take anything in it personally... It was a very general response... One that i might never be able to post in certain threads on here unfortunately...
Anyway, to go back to the subject at hand... I believe that you can take your name off the Researchers Credits from your end[?!]... Have a look, there should be something saying "Remove my name" or something similar... If not, tell me and i will do it for you...
All the best...

Thanks, for your reply. The length is not a problem. You do have a right to state your opinion on the matter. Especially, since I sort of dumped it on your page...never knew who exactly put my name on that entry...just assumed it was you or manda...no one ever said.
I have removed my name from the entry. Didn't have a clue that button was there or I simply wouldn't have bothered you in the first place. Just wanted to edit my page and remove the digibox links because I simply want to back away from that issue entirely. Any researcher who approaches me or my page civilly will get treated civilly in return.
Your work with the digibox users, the shortcuts and such is admirable. Too bad DNA sites aren't part of the package from Telewest. Maybe that will change soon. Until then, the grievances should be between the digibox users and Telewest (or their new ISPs).

The entry is rather out of date anyway as with the Plain Skin release there is no need for the 360 trick anymore...
Thinking of it, as i wanted to use it as an example to help the digibox users eventually coming back understand that not all the PC users are against them, i better check how many names are left in the Researchers Credits box before doing so...
It seems that the spammer actually merely opened another account... Why doesn't he make clear what his problem with aka is _once and for all_ and stop this nonsense?!...
All the best...

The plain skin was a big help to the digibox users, from what I understand. The alternative to PCs here is WebTv. Not a clue how inclusive or exclusive that is, either.
I would suggest Pheloxi's United Friends of H2G2 A703126 as another example of people trying to work together.
About the spamming... Therein is one of the biggest drawbacks to the anonymity of this site: Some people don't feel any responsibility for their actions.
On one hand I believe that the issue of informing Telewest just shouldn't have been discussed on site as if to bully or insult the digibox users. To be fair, I will say that aka is polite when talking to me, both before and since this issue.
On the other hand, Spamming, trolling and just being nasty really irritates me. You, and anyone else who wants a friendly chat are welcome to visit my page, any time.
Key: Complain about this post
