Thanks Jim, Darrell, Opti, Miz and Smurfles for your very best wishes for me and my job. I am very excited about the job even though there is some travelling involved and I have even got a uniform which consists of a tunic and trousers which I change into when I arrive there. Because I live in Thurrock, Oyster cards are not vailid but I will try and see if I cannot a week day bus to Rush Green but I think I will only be able to get a bus pass to Romford and I do not know about Romford to Rush Green.

I have found after 4 telephone calls that I cannot get a weekly ticket and if I want to use an Oyster card I have to get it when I am in Romford to get a reduction in bus fares otherwise pay £4.00 return to Romford and then £4 return to Rush Green.
I will start my first week with an induction and I am not sure if it lasts a week or a fortnight.

i think i can say with confidence, that i dont think looking for work will ever be something i will have to do, but then i have yet another reveiw in 2010, so anything can happen lol

you do look for a job now, you beg, in the days i worked, i could walk to a firm, ask to see the personal officer or boss, and if a job was going, odds on you got it, on a months trial, now its interviews for even a burger or supermarket job.

HI Jim
When my late Dad was looking for working he got the first edition of the newspapers and looked in the job section and it was more easier and you could be in a job at the end of the day. Around the early to mid 70's jobs were much easier to get than they are now.

Hi Jim
Around the mid 70's it was a great time to get temporary jobs at temping agencies and you got more money than permanent staff, that lasted until the late 70's.

if you get a temp job now, the agency probably get half the money you earn, the only temp job i did was in a metal home, as security, they never gave you any trouble, so it was money for old rope.lol only lasted three weeks, till the one i was temping came back after a stay in the hospital

Hi Jim
If you had good fast typing skillls of 50 words per minute plius and short-hand in the 1970's you could get paid a good job and there were lots od jobs in the city of Lobdon. The maximun speed I got was 25 words per minute but by tne mid 1980's there not that many jobs then and the jobs that were available you had too hane at least five years experiebce which I did not have. Even jobs like a filing clerk were gone or very few.

Hi Jim
Thurrock is starting to resemble one big housing estate and I remember the time when it had it's one A&E hospital with maternity wing in the mid 80's. Now the population has trebled and there is no A&E hospital or maternity wing and the nearest is in Basildon 18 miles away. They are building housing like it were going out of fashion.

Hi JImbob
I have got a telephone call from my advisor and he is going to contact Access to work, to get help with costs of fare. I am going to get £48 pounds extra every week and that will also help with the fares. When I go to the library tomorrow, I will photocopy the documents that I need for my housing application form.
