Do you cover other games? I don't mind GW games, I just wouldn't want to only play them (any more than I would want to only play DBA/DBM/DBR). I left my last wargames club because no-one was interested in anything else.

That was about six years ago, and I'm thinking of starting up again. Anyone know any good clubs in the Sheffield area (for all sorts of games, not just GW)?

sure, I did have this in mind when i created it!
It's just that so far I've only had people that play GW games interested...
what were the games you play? Just tell me the appropriate details and I'll put you on!

Well, I haven't played for a few years, but I'll try just about anything. The main systems I like are:

Blood Bowl (3rd ed),
Epic (1st, 2nd & 3rd eds, only own 2nd),
DBA, DBM & DBR,
Rapid Fire,
Shootist,
Full thrust,
Buckle for your dust,
Block Mania,
(ooh, what was the name of those Napoleonics rules I've got, nope, can't remember).

Periods I especially like:

Wars of the Roses (mid-late 15th century)
Laandschnecks and the like (late 15th & 16th)
Napoleonics (I favour Russians)
Second Word War Eastern Front

As I said, I'll generally play anything, I just don't want the choice of games my opponnts play to be limited to a couple of fantasy/sci-fi.

Thanks

Pretty much any wargames store or mail order gaming catalogue. If I remember rightly DBA, DBM, DBR, (they're almost the same), the four DBM army list books, and the DBR army list book cost about £5 to £6 each. DBA is ancients, DBM is ancients and medieval (something like (3000BC to 1450AD) with the four army list books each covering a period of that, and DBR is renaisence (something like 1450 to 1795, if I remember rightly).

As with most wargames they make a lot more sense once you're actually playing them.

Whereabouts are you? I might be able to find a store near you that sells non-GW wargames (though they'll almost cetainly have at least a few Citadel miniatures if not some GW games as well).

I'll have a look see what stores I can find. There's probably somewhere in Fife, but I should definately be able to find somewhere in Edinburgh for you to get stuff from.

Right, they are very popular but simple wargames rules by a compant called WRG (Wargames Research Group). They stand for (don't quote me on the spelling) De Bellis Antiquis, De Bellis Multitudinus and De Bellis Renaisence (if I remember correctly).

Eggy, I did actually find somewhere in Fife when I trawled through stuff, but I've forgotten to bring the address to work with me, I'll post it once I get back this evening.

Thanks Moose, that'll be fine.

Eggy, right the only address I've found is for 'The Wargames Figures Company' at 405 Cunny Place, Glenrothes (postcode KY7 4RA). They've got a site at www.wargamesfigures.com

Hope that helps.
