..as though a little french will add credence to the crap I write
So...a New Year's Eve; myself, a glass of water to settle my tummy (and I didn't even imbibe!), a book of Garcia-Lorca poetry, pretty little thoughts..
Difficult day though..as you may know, I live with my ex-boyfriend until further arrangements can be made. He is a wonderful man, and is so sweet with my children. However, the last couple of days he has been very..irritable, sarcastic, critical - and all because he wants me back. He actually wrote me a letter this evening (will wonders never cease) describing how he feels, what he wants, his fatalism on the matter..I have no idea what to feel, to be honest. I'm used to him being around, and I do love him, so for those reasons I don't want him to go. But on the other hand..well for example, what is it about the guys I've been with that causes them to suddenly be willing to be what you need them to be *after* things have gone completely sour and the end is near?!? This infuriates me! If they were so f*cking interested in me and what I want out of a person, why did they not do anything while things were 'good'? And they are surprised and hurt that I lose interest? That sounds horrid of me, but it's true. At the very least, I'm sticking to my guns and remaining broken up, and I'm collecting guideposts as to what my criteria are..and they seem simple enough - a man who reads, who writes, who thinks, who actively loves me and participates in my life. Why should somebody want to be with me if I don't transfix them on all sorts of levels? Am I a convenient f*ck, and a nice enough girl? I just have higher expectations for my life, naive as that may be. I want to be somebody's angel.
19 days...and then I'll be with you for a short time! Well, with some of you, and at least in the same time zone as most of you. I am looking forward so much to meeting you amazing people; you all mean so much to me
Interesting year. Many small, quiet moments of victory. I potty trained both of my kids at the same time, I got the best grades I've gotten in several years (after many years of near-failing due to odd life happenings and my lack of hope and confidence, etc.), I survived the one-year anniversary of Ray's suicide and my first trip back down to his grave (in the spring I inaugurated the yearly ritual of taking him lilacs when they are blooming), I found the fabulous Hootoo, I dealt with my bisexuality, I allowed myself to become single and to pursue what I really want, I wrote some things, I opened myself up, I took things in...really a phenomenal year in many ways. I'm nurturing myself for my own sake, that *I* may find myself beautiful and accomplished. I have brilliant hope for the new year; something I haven't managed to hold for many ages. In the words of a beloved, "Wish me luck!"
Bliss.

Bonjour, Nyssa, une nouvelle année indeed. Don't know if these things are coincidental, spooky, proof of another "existence" or what; but last night the lamp over the computer desk wasn't working. Sat down just now (this morning here),turned it on, still not working, "oh well" thought I, just have to manage, what a piss-off, bad start to the new year, "omen"ous etc.
Wasn't intending to do ANYTHING at all on hootoo except get a bloody dancing alien on my page (I WILL IWILL!!!!) BUT.....
saw the french; couldn't resist (wondered for a moment if had crept out of bed & written something; but would have been totally unlike him!)
Lo & behold, I sat down to reply to you & the INSTANT I started to type the name "Nyssa", the light went on!!!
So, your 1st reply to this is from France aussi! Are you sure you can't make a quick hop over the channel just to say hi? When do you arrive? Which bit of Youkay are you staying in?
If you're still online, I'll let you know my thoughts on the other things you said; basically though, I'm in 100% agreement with you!

indeed! I normally have a more shattering effect on light bulbs
I will be flying out () on the 19th and departing () on the 31st...I do believe. And no, I can't come over...I sorry! I is poor, and Njan's schedule is rather problematic (he has finals during my stay). Otherwise, I'm *sure* he'd love to go with me, for he's quite the francophile . Next time though for certain!
and Thank you

Um um..I do everything in goo..all you have to do I think is hit the edit space button in the top right..when you're there, switch to GuideML..just to be safe, before you do that, copy and paste whatever you had originally to notepad or something so you can always stick it back . I hope I came even close to answering your question - let me know

OK sweetie - on your computer, go to 'start' then 'programs' then 'accessories' - down in there somewhere should be your notepad. . You know how to control-C the text you selected, and then how to control-v it to paste, right?

Actually, you won't lose your old page no matter what. Until it accepts your new updated version in Guide ML, the old page is still active, so don't worry about saving it - the servers in UK keep the old one until it's changed.

Bonjour all! so you were lurking in the wings, eh, Lady Scott!
Well, thank you for being there, & the words of wisdom from everyone, I really appreciate it (& need it!)
I am now the proud owner of a beautiful new dancing alien (6lb 4oz I think)
As yet un-named, suggestions welcome
Sex indeterminate but definitely there in some shape or form (seems happy enough anyway!)
Do go & say hello!
lights &s to be added when my brain's a bit less hyper (don't want to ruin what we've managed this far..... is it possible to replace the 1st or 2nd "I think therefore etc" with smileys? I know you have to type a different code in GuideML)
Nyss, you change your title every 5 minutes; you must know about this bit?)

What do you want to do here?
You've got the tag, which I've never seen before, and don't think its necessary at all. (although you'll have to take it off the bottom too, if you remove it from the top of your page)
Then you've got 2 lines, whereas you really only need one. (again, you'll have to remove any extras from the end of your page, or you'll end up with guide ml errors)
Yes, you can add smileys - and you can put them between a and tag, but I don't think they look particularly good in a header, at least not in Goo, they've always had the dark blue background when I've tried to add them maybe I'm doing something wrong though.
To add a smiley in Guide ML do this:
<SMILEY TYPE="smiley"/> substituting the name of the smiley you want to use where the word smiley is in quotes - keep the quotes, though or it'll kick back again because of guide ML errors!
If you want to separate paragraphs by more than one line, stick in some wherever you'd like more separation.

Hmmm... I just found a place where it worked to put a smiley in a header in Goo...
This is the code pattern to use, substituting the smiley of preference for the huh. For every smiley you use you'll need to do another <SMILEY TYPE="smiley"/>
<SMILEY TYPE="huh"/>

Dearlanyssa,
You don't need French for you writing style to be simply excellent and amazingly personal.
I wouldn't worry too much about this new year and the following ones if I were you...
When it comes to good things, your time has come (and it's only fair).
Everybody knows that.
