Has anyone come across something called the "four fingered lift"?

It is demonstrated by two people, no matter how small, lifting a person, regardless of their stature, from a chair.

The "lifters" only use their two forefingers. The two lifters stand each side of the person being lifted and, after some "foreplay" which obviously makes it work, proceed to lift the subject by each putting one forefinger under the subjects arm pit, and the other under the knee cap. As long as the "lifters" are not disturbed, they can EASILY lift the subject.


I have done it many times, but would like to know how it works. Anyone any ideas?

At last! Someone is interested!

The foreplay involves the lifters holding their hands, with "air gaps" between them, over the subjects head. When I have done this, and seen it done by others for the first time, the lifters are "talked through" the method of the "foreplay" and try to lift the subject. Sometimes they have been able to just raise the subject, but usually they fail in their attempt.

They then go through the "foreplay" silently and always succeed in lifting the subject.

Any ideas?

Nothing obvious springs to mind. Sounds a bit 'mind over matter' - and over the years I've seen (and even done) a few 'impossible' things.

I'm going to have to find 4 co-operative colleagues in work tomorrow and try it out. They already think I'm deranged, so they won't be surprised, although they may be reluctant.
