Hi all!
Lord Irish arrived in this country, mainly to get away from "family", in December 1972 on a 3 year Contract with the then ZCCM, Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines, where I worked at a Division called CSD, Centralised Services Division. Shortly after my arrival, the Contract was converted from 3 years to 2 years. After 18 months of said Contract I was offered a renewall and I thought, "what's 4 years, when originally I intended to stay for 3 years" Accordingly, since I liked the country, I signed the second Contract.
19 years later, and changes from job to job within the, by then, NCCM, I was given what here is termed a "blue letter" which basically said, "Clear your desk, pack your bags and return from whence you came!"
By that time, I had just bought my house here for the huge sum of not very much! so I thought why go back home(?) I don't know anyone there except my Brother and his family, (both my parents have died) so I decided to stay here. Thay was 9 years ago, and it doesn't seem that long!
One of the first things I did here was buy a horse. He cost me the eqivalent of 5 pence! Oh luxury! He tought me to ride, as well as fall off. Since my first horse, Lord Irish, known to his friends as "Knucklehead" I've always had at least one horse. At present I have two horses, both Geldings and both 16.3hh, one dark bay, the other dark chestnut with a "squidged" blaze.
I've also got two Black Cats, Shifter and Socket, who I have had, nay, who have stayed with me, for the past 9 years.
Personal details:
Aquarius, 1952
Single and loving it! (Never known any different!)
Transport - Land Rover Discovery x Two! (4 x 4 x Far!)
Private Pilot Lisence holder (Expired - the yellow streak gets wider each year, but I must do something about it!, the License, not the yellow streak!)
Interests are reading, the likes of Stephen King, star gazing and listening to the good old Steam Radio. I've never had either a TV or Satellite dish! Usually, I don't think I've missed anything!
