Entry: Out of Print Books - A767063

This entry is very short, but I personally think it is as well researched as it's going to get. If you don't think so, or even know so, please post.

If you contact the Editors, they will let you know your forgotten password.
Are you intending putting this into Peer Review as an Edited Entry? If so, you still have to do some more work on it. You'll have to remove the comment at the start and the comment at the end, as they both refer specifically to you.
While you can use the "one researcher" trick to get around the third person rule occasionally, it should only be occasionally. All that stuff about Amazon should be rephrased something like:
"It is probably better to keep away from xxxx.xxx as this is just a front for Amazon, a company with an infuriating out-of-print book policy."
or something like that. But be careful before you slag off Amazon. You can't actually say anything which is libellous.
When you've done all this, will there be enough in this entry to make a good entry? Is there anything else you could say about out-of-print books? You may not be aware of the two totally different situations on either side of the Atlantic. (I don't know which side you're on). In America, books stay on the shelves of bookstores for a limited time and are then withdrawn and returned to the publishers. Publishers make limited print runs and reprint often if the book sells well. If the book sells badly, they don't bother reprinting. In Europe, print runs are longer and the books tend to stay on the shelves of the bookshop for ever, or until the shop decides they are a waste of space, so a good search in a bookshop can often find books that are long out of print.

Actually I've forgotten my username, not my password.
I know it needs work, that's why it's in WW
If I were more clear on this, it might help: Amazon did the same thing to me what the bookstore did. However, I don't blame amazon for it, because they are such a large company one little book slipping through is expected
If you don't mind, I'm going to use a reworded version of this comment.

When you say you know it needs more work, could you say what more work you think it needs, and what sort of help you are looking for? That would be very useful.
By the way, you need to be aware that your links to sites such as Amazon will probably be removed by the Moderators at some point. That's because this is a BBC site, and the BBC is not allowed to advertise, and linking to sites that are there primarily to sell something is considered advertising.
Anyway - how can we help you?

Yes, I still exist, but the entry doesn't.

Ooops!
Hey, if you inspect it more closely, you'll find that the 'edit entry' button is still there. Apparently something in the entry annoyed the Mods and the 'edit' button is there for you to do fix anything that was wrong. You should have received an eMail with the details, perhaps it was just a link that was broken?

"doesn't really matter to me" Hmmm... so I gather you won't amend the entry or something? If that's the case, could you be bothered to move this thread out of the Writing Workshop? There's a link (or an 'x' in Brunel) on the Writing-Workshop page.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
