A Conversation for Talking Point: What makes you cry?

The abuse of power

That's what makes me smiley - cry. The way that those who end up with the most influence and the most material rewards in this world are so often those who just don't give a smiley - bleep: those who can completely shut off their emotions and inflict great suffering on others. It happens at every level from the school playground to global politics, from bullying to war. For examples of what I mean, see news bulletins absolutely any day at all.

A big part of the reason why that makes me smiley - cry is that I know perfectly well that I couldn't be like that if I tried. So I and the kind of people I like will always be on the receiving end of abuse from those who'll happily do anything to retain or enhance their status. smiley - groan

There are those who sit and wait for a critical mass to form and the rest of humanity to catch up and become as enlightened as they think they are. Then there are those who already understand that power, any amount, is inherently abusive. The very idea that one person should tell another person how to live (or die in some cases) is the root of the cancer that eats away at the souls of mankind. We have no pure power today because we have no independence from society. We are defined by it and most of us don't know it and thus do nothing about it. And while no man or woman is an island, we can be self sufficient, and strong within ourselves. Yes, abuse of power makes me cry, but people lost in a maze of self-ignorance and doubt makes me weep.
Remember this, Happyness and peace are thier own justifications and their own ends. Achieve that in yourself and you can change everything.
