I'm not posting one of these every day, so don't anyone panic.
In fact, I've been so busy lately, I can't even manage one a week.
Anyway. Last weekend was a rough one, aside from the Halloween party, but things are getting back to normal and life is settling back into its usual rhythm.
Work is insanely busy, and I was just asked to take on yet another assignment. I logged into that center's fax queue Friday and found the person who was originally assigned it must be struggling more than she lets on, as nothing had been done in over a month. Playing catchup is going to be a real nightmare, especially as I need to close month end Tuesday and then accrue for all 254 items.
Other than that, not much going on. The weather's finally gotten and stayed gorgeous, crisp and cool, occasional rain but still lots of sun. The leaves are all gold and orange and red... and people have their wood fires burning, so if we open a couple of windows, we can enjoy the smell at the very least.
We set the clocks back this morning, which means another hour before I can eat.

I do love the aroma of autumn, loads of leaves about the place, the wood smoke from the occasional home, and the especially crisp air when the mornings start at about 25F ...
Good luck with all that other stuff that means less than diddly-squat to me though.

Your work sounds stressful. I hope you're still liking it.
We have rain here but not much changing leaves yet. Some don't change until January! And of course some trees here don't loose their leaves at all.

Ah. Autumn leaves, mellow weather, open fires, accrual accounting... That just goes to show that life is not perfect.

The weather goes a long way to keeping me mellow (though it's unbearably warm at the office).
The one thing I dislike about Daylight Savings Time ending is the Monday just after... my internal clock is not yet adjusted so I woke up when I normally would have, about an hour early. The cats' tummies are still on DST, too.

Indeed, them furries have their own clocks and it is YOUR job to understand and follow them

I was sleeping on my side and the cat perched itself on my shoulder and stuck it's paw in my ear and left it there.
Just staring down at me, with his paw in my ear, didn't want nuffink, he had snacks, water, didn't want petting, looked at me blankly when I got up to see if he wanted to go out out, made sure that I was well and truely awake before wandering off to snuggle up with Hiccup

revenge for, wait for it, stroking the other cat earlier in the day right in front of him, no doubt, other cat is feral cat so you get your strokes in when you can, but I thought he had already got me back because he hared upstairs and pooed in the hall and came down looking smug
very, very naughty

All very basic reminders as to exactly WHO owns the home. I know cats as well as any mortal human might, ...

Around 2:30 AM this morning I woke to the sound of someone fiddling with the toilet lid. I got up to have a look and heard the sound of paws hitting the floor followed by a long "brrrrrrrrrrrr-eeeeew?" sort of trill/mew thing that Minerva does when she's saying hello, or caught doing something she's not supposed to be.

So then obviously it was not her making peculiar mechanical sounds, she was just investigating who it might have been. Look at that face, so innocent, you KNOW she'd not be up to anything ...

I'm pretty sure she mostly just jumps on and off of it. I've seen use it as a platform to get to the sink basin. What she expects to do there is beyond me.
But occasionally she tries to lift the lid, presumably to either investigate the contents underneath, or to play in the water (she does like to play in water).

Why does a cat hunker down and stare under a chest of drawers? I think they just hope something really cool and interesting might come out ... And they are so patient, enough to make the person of the house wonder as well what might be there.
Actually, I am pretty sure that it is all a twisted psychological game they play with us, THEIR pets ...

Ooh talk. I belong to a too, although I'm pretty sure he has other pets as well.
Anyway... just came over to say 'hi psychocandy'. I believe you're in charge of HVS nowadays.

I am... but I haven't yet successfully migrated the account over because I can't remember the damned password. I need to get that sorted sometime very soon.
Thanks for coming by Pegasus, and how nice to see you!
I'm always happy to talk about my cats. Today they're misbehaving and got scolded, so I am being shunned.

Yes, though I admit I'm a bit sketchy about being in touch even when I am not super-busy. Between work and then trying to adjust to various volunteer schemes here (as in giving them all enough of my time as to not be too neglectful)... and some days when I get home I have other things I want to do, not at the PC.
