Just a brief journal update, I guess. There's too much going on to dwell on anything for too long.
Had a lovely new year, hope everyone else did as well. I still haven't replied to all of your emails from the week of Xmas. Worked half a day Friday, the K picked me up (he was off work), we grabbed some lunch and sifted through some things I'm selling to donate the proceeds for aid to the tsunami victims. We then spent the evening at his place, he doing a CD deejay thing involving songs from albums released in years ending in "5". Saturday night we went out for dinner then watched a couple of movies.
I tried watching "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", which we gave to his roommate P for Xmas, but halfway through I was bored to tears so he shut it off and we watched one of the "Horrible Horrors" instead. I guess I'll try it again sometime when I'm feeling perkier and more attentive. I just found it rather pointless.
Yesterday we did the bowling bit with his folks again, and came home to a message from his brother-in-law that his sister had had her baby (their second), a healthy baby boy.
Today it was back to work at the new job. It's a real drudge, I'm either much too busy or bored out of my mind. So, I'm still looking for another position.
That's it. I'm doing my laundry tonight and gorging on pasta in hopes of lifting my mood. If anyone's around for a chat within the next couple of hours, give me a shout.
Terri, did you ever receive that package I sent you?

You do sound in a funny mood.
Its always easier to look for a job, when you already have one, so look upon this job as a stop gap. Did you ever sort out your salary?
Its difficult when the news is full of such ragedy, you feel guilty for sitting there in your nice warm and dry home and eating plenty. Maybe that is what is getting to you?

Yeah, it is hard to be in a really good mood with the tragedy going n elsewhere. It kind of makes me feel guilty for worrying about my own seemingly trivial woes, and also for having so much in comparison to others: if I'm struggling, how much worse off must they be?
Additionally, K's been really depressed because they've only a few more weeks left till the plant shuts down, and he hasn't landed another position yet. He's bummed about the same thing as I am: constantly spinning the wheels but never seeming to "get anywhere". I'm sure you know what I mean by that.
I haven't got my salary sorted yet, I haven't had the chance to talk to the boss alone yet. I'll have to wait till he gets back from Florida. There's too much to do, not enough people to do it, and the work is boring. Plus I'm no longer remotely interested in automobiles, parts of automobiles, or anything related to automobiles beyond riding in and maintenance of K's own personal vehicle. I'm certainly not inclined to learn a whole lot of stuff about their electrical workings.

I think I've just been too grumpy to focus properly on a "serious" film. We're going to have another go at it soon.
Thanks for the congrats, I'll pass them along!!
And don't worry too much about the job thing, it'll all pan out one way or another. How are things going with you, JEllen? I read your posting that you've had more family stresses. How's your mom been?

I would be utterly bored by anything like that with cars as well.
If you get bored enough, try looking at my picture and try imagining me bald, I have I can't decide whether its frightening or hiliarious!

Darn keep looking for work then PC.
It is not so painful to do (except for the scheduling)and you are more attractive to employers being employed already.
Best of luck to K on his job search.
Hope he is not too stressed and crabby.
OOO the hubby was quite a crab for a bit.
I knew it was coming because he has a problem saying no.
Eventually the pace got to him. Luckily he got stranded on the top of a mountain for three hours under a full moon. It helped! He got to thinking......... Ah stillness can heal

Just tried to email you PC, but i can't work out how to do it on RK's system, it seems to refuse to let me type your adress in, only wants to play ball for people already in my address list. he probably wouldn't appreciate being woken at 5.30 am, so it will have to be tomorrow.
But to you both in job stuff. I can well relate to the "feeling guilty for being so happy" syndrome, i am floating along on Cloud Nine stuff myself right now too, desperate to gush sickeningly about wonderful male humanoid...*resist, resist*
JEllen, so sorry to hear about your mum
Sorrel, wow, what are you going to do with the hair? Are lots of people doing this? When does the great shave take place? I knew someone who shaved off half his beard for charity ages back.

Hi everyone.
JEllen, I'll be thinking of you and your family and hoping for the best. Thanks for the email.
Sorrel, I expect you'll be as pretty bald as you are with long hair. But yeah, you're right about thinking of things that make me smile instead of the ones that aggravate me.
Abbi, I'm going to keep looking- sent out ten resumes from work yesterday! K's not too depressed this week, because a couple of interviews went positively. I think he's frustrated, much like any number of people, at never quite getting the position or salary you know you're worth. It will be okay. Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I'll see if playing in the foot of snow we got yesterday will cheer him up!
Hi Vixen! How's everything by you? Got lots of snow there yet?
Terri, you email me when you can, and gush as much as you like about being happy and about that wonderful guy. You deserve to be happy!! I *want* to hear baout it!
Okay gotta leave a bit early so I can trudge to the bus through all of this sloppy white stuff. And it's supposed to be warmer again this weekend- will it all melt and get even messier? We shall see.
I might be able to sneak on this evening for a bit before K arrives, I don't know how late his interview will go or how long it will take me to get home. See you guys later.

Sorrel,
Good luck with the job hunting Pc
Terri nice to hear that things are working out....I recall panic and depression, and frustrated anger not too long ago about living accommodation....wonderful that things are looking up
As for me, not too much to report - thanks for asking! I have been on night shift the past couple of days so rather knackered!
Still haven't started my resolutions of diet and exercise and more drawing - well, there is always next week

I believe they're letting me out of work early today on account of the snow- took me an hour to get in this morning and we had to cancel all of our service calls scheduled for today because no one can drive on the street in front of the shop. (They only plow the main thoroughfares here, not the side streets, and we've got accumulations of over a foot.)
Snow days are the best!
I'm looking forward to a fun evening tonight... K's going to stop home after his interview today ( to him, too!), get some clothes and laundry, and spend the night at my place tonight, since it looks like the Penguin Killer's flight got out all right.

Oh, yeah, I got out of work early all right! I was *supposed* to get out at 2:00, I left at 3:45. My regularly scheduled shift ends at 4:00. Early indeed!
Anyway, a vast majority of sidewalks were shoveled during the day, so the commute home wasn't as difficult, aside from the waiting. I got home around the same time as usual, including a stop for smokes and a bottle of for me, and a bottle of Coke for K. I'm settled nicely into yoga pants, dry socks, and a fleece sweat shirt, so I can chat away cozily until K gets here for our little slumber party.
I didn't hate my job so much today, but then it was really slow and I spent half the day playing solitaire and checking emails. I guess it's the actual *work* I dislike.
so anyway, hope everyone else is safe and sound and if you've got snow, I hope you're having fun with it and not too much hassle.

My update -
Our construction will start up again after a long break of 6 weeks.
Should be 2-3 weeks worth of work to do. I am not even venturing a guess as to when it will be finished.
I sure needed the last week to regroup and rest without company.
It seems to be working!

Hiya all, sounds like you are all, DON'T fall over!!!
OK, PC in a moment of invited me here to come and gush over stuff, so let the gushing commence:
Name: patrick
Age: 50; but sure as hell doesn't look it!
Nationality: French, but Danish ancestry, hence the nickname of Viking Frog
Appearance: 6ft+, loooooooooong, ie past his waist, blond/brownish hair, huge green eyes with giraffe length lashes. Slim but not skinny.Looks a bit like a young Anthony Hopkins.
Clothing: Optional as far as i am concerned, but if necessary to avoid public rioting, black leather trousers and boots, Tshirt and classy jumper, green spy style trenchcoat.
Fitness level: Given the opportunity, will ski, cycle, swim, climb mountains, whatever. This is a public forum and if i was to go into details of other physical prowess i would be both modded to hell and have the rest of you on the next plane out to France, suffice to say i am an extremely happy
Background: Raised in Africa, married twice, 3 kids, 2 are grown up boys, one is 12 year old girl, Morgane ( as in Queen of the) who lives with mum just around the corner, we will be arranging meeting up very soon.
Previously he has been an accountant, then owned several bars and restaurants here, but this all fell apart when he got divorced. We are now plotting to start a small hotel/guesthouse in either india, Madagascar or Zanzibar. We ain't kidding, with his and my experience, plus we are both good this would work, and yes, of course you are all invited!
Star sign: Virgo. He is a fully domestuicated malething, but also very , makes stuff from bamboo and general vegetation, basically the same sort of thing i do with cheeseboxes.
Personality:
Yer 100% faithful nice guy type; yes folks, i thought they were extinct, but it appears not.
And most important of all, he seems to be totally in with little old me, and me with him. It's pretty unbelievable for the pair of us, as he said "It's destiny, it's a wonderful, it's just....oh, merci mon dieu or whoever!"
The only sticking point up till now has been he wasn't happy about me going on the beast too much at first, mainly 'cos he got bored 'cos he had none of his own stuff here, but we have sorted it out, it's fine now.
And no, he isn't an axe murderer in his spare time, i checked, but he does trundle off in his nice camper van every now and again to Spain or Portugal to top up the tan....er...i reckon i can cope with being dragged along once the weather heats up a bit!
OK, end of gush.
Please form an orderly queue at the back door. The photos will be appearing shortly.
lucky little sod aren't i? Dunno what i did to deserve it other than be nice to him.
