I have returned!
psychocandy-moderation team leader Started conversation Jan 4, 2004
Just checking in to let all of my friends know i've returned home safely and relatively unscathed. I'm quite tired at the moment, and I'm not sure just what time my brain thinks it is but my body says it would like a bath and then bed. Or at least, the couch and TV, and perhaps a bite of something more substantial than airline "food" to eat. I think I'll take its advice.
I had an absolutely lovely visit with Krispy in England. We spent a lot of time indoors, playing cards and stuff, and watching loads of British comedy on TV (which is enough to keep me entertained for hours on end). Rainy weather does have its good points.
Krispy took me to see "The Return of the King", which was every bit as great as I expected, to the park a couple times to feed the ducks and geese, and out to the seaside. We enjoyed a delightful holiday- Krispy even cooked me a lovely Xmas dinner, how sweet and thoughtful can you get?- and a relaxing if a bit boozy New Year, and also received surprise phone calls from Richenda & Barton and from Terri! I'm a bit bummed that I wasn't able to meet Kaz this time, I wish it didn't cost so much to get down to London and back. Kaz, I hope your brochitis and that terrible cold have finally let up. I couldn't help noticing that the weather's somewhat damp in England at this time of year. That can't help much.
Terri, I'll send that CD-Rom we spoke of as soon as I get settled back in here, and hopefully can talk with you again soon. I'm glad you are still hanging in there, and I'm glad you knew you could call me when the shit hit the fan. It was good to hear you even laughing a little.
Right now I'm off to have a bath and wash off some of this grimy feeling one gets from traveling, and get some rest. I expect I'll be in most of the day tomorrow doing laundry and such, so perhaps I'll see some of your eyes out there then. Take care, all, and talk with you soon.

Welcome back PC! Glad you had a good trip, even if it did rain a lot. Maybe I'll catch you on tomorrow and we can talk about Return of the King. (PS I'm glad you talked to Terri)

Hi there, thanks for the warm welcome back!
I'll keep an eye out for you later, JEllen (and everyone else, as well). I'm up a bit earlier than usual, rolled out of bed around 6:30, but that was to be expected.

Woowoo! I found you guys!
I still find it weird that my eyes appear when I'm offline and disappear when I'm off. (optical illusion-argh! ) I'm even more contrary than any of us suspected, it seems. That or h2 is behaving badly... but that *never* happens, does it?

That should have read that my eyes disappear when I'm ONLINE. Silly me. (Use the preview button, you schmuck!)
And we all know, I'm always a bit "off".

Welcome back PC. I thought of you at Christmas time as we were planning a visit to near Norwich which never came off. That was where you went wasn't it? Happy New Year

Hiya Meg! I was actually staying in Ipswich. The day after I arrived they played a home football match v. Norwich, which I understand is some huge historical rivalry. The riot squads were out and all. I'm not sure how far off Norwich is from Ipswich- on the map it's only a couple of inches.
Happy New Year to you, too, and I was happy to read of all the good things you've had going on recently!

I'm no good with geography at all, myself. I doubt I could successfully identify all 50 States, much less even pretend to find anything else. It doesn't help that I've no sense of direction whatsoever, either. I can barely navigate my own city half the time.
So I see you're leaving for Sri Lanka on the 5th of February. How exciting! How long will you be staying there for after the wedding? I'm really looking forward to hearing about it, it sounds like it will be absolutely beautiful!

Meg Posted Jan 6, 2004
I got lost in my own town before Christmas and I've lived there 10 years. I'd taken a walk, went the wrong way down a street and became disorientated for about 10 minutes. It's alright though, we all laughed at me when I got home
We get married out there on the 16th and return on the 20th and I can't wait. It will be the first time the children have flown in an aircraft.

Whoops... I fell asleep early and missed hearing back from you. Sorry! I take wrong turns around here when I'm walking all the time. It doesn't take much to disorient me, but it is usually good for a laugh later. Except for the one time it was pouring rain and I got lost because I couldn't even see that I was walking the wrong way.
I'm sure it will be very exciting for your children, their first flight on an aircraft. I was 18 the first time I flew, and it was exciting enough for me. Hopefully it won't be too scary for them- it still scares me silly.
Sounds like your wedding will be wonderful, and especially intimate with the people who'll be there. And incredibly romantic. I've marked the date on my calendar and will be thinking of you and your beloved and sending you all my best wishes.
Meanwhile, you must be getting so excited!
Hope to catch up with you again next week, and maybe not fall asleep quite so early.

Hi, Meg! I was hoping to find you here!
Incidentally, I left you a message- with no subject, of course. At least I'm conistent.
I'm doing all right, for the most part. I've been fighting a cold, and the cold's been winning, and also a wee bit stressed. But otherwise I'm great, and still basking in the residual effects of my wonderful visit to my own beloved on your side of the pond.
How about you? How are you, your hubby-to-be (though he's a much a hubby already as a hubby can get), and your beautiful children, Maggot and Trouble?
I have returned!
Meg Posted Jan 13, 2004
I'll carry on chatting to you on the other thread, but the brood are fine. Maggott is 10 now and starting to pupate (or whatever maggotts do to metamorphasise??????????) Her hormones are trickling in, she's becoming less communicative is refusing to wear dresses and there's the slightest hint of breast development which we all tease her about. She's going to be a stunning butterfly just as my wings start to dull. Trouble is still a loveable handful if not two

Argh! A child with breasts forming? As much as I want a child in the very near future, I dread *that* day! (and yes, I think that maggots definitely do pupate! )
What a beautiful thing to see your own butterfly metamorphosing even as your own wings "dull" (though I doubt you could ever "dull', Meg!).
And as for Trouble... two handsful probably doesn't even begin to describe it?
I'd be happy to continue this convo in the other thread... no worries, and no sense in keeping my own journal entry alive. See you over there, I hope?

Also, for what it's worth- the Monday night update
My dad called yesterday. I appreciate his calling when he knew my mother wasn't home. I really miss my dad, I'll talk about that some other time.
Work is still work. No comment yet, but I'd appreciate all the prayers and positive energy I can get.
Krispy and I are doing wonderfully. I can't discuss it at liberty here, but you all know how to contact me at belladonna_23 at hotmail dot com if you're really interested.
Otherwise I am fine and dandy, besides this dratted cold, and I'm doing the best I possibly can. Thanks for your friendship and support, all of you.
Nighty night, take care, and talk soon, in one way or another.
