Out of gratitude and allegiance to the 'new' h2g2, I pledge to write at least five Guide Entries when the 'switch' happens. I've not been the most active author of late (having a proper job doesn't help), but everyone needs to play their own little part, and I can't think of a better way than this.
Who's with me?

Yep, as soon as I heard the news I stopped thinking of 'save the best for last' and switched to supporting noohootoo. Why give my first entry for years to Auntie when I can keep it for us?

Incidentally I wonder what it says about me (in my capacity as a slutty housekeeper) that before reading the first post this subject made me feel guilty about being on here instead of doing some cleaning.

This is great to see.
I do think it's worthwhile to write for the Saving the Best for Last contest, though. It was actually intended at least partly to invigorate the Guide a bit, and provide a pool of entries for the new site. Anything that is written now for Saving the Best for Last can still be put on a shelf for publication until after the switcheroo (unless someone decided to write something now and revoke their permission for it, which would be weird). So my advice: get writing now, if possible.

I'm so glad that people feel inspired that h2g2 will have a future.
It's great that people want to write for the new h2g2 and show their support - I can't wait to read it. And Rich - glad to see you back and we can't wait for a video. We certainly plan to support all sorts of AV content in the future.
It would also be great if people could write for the existing h2g2 - the site now has a future - ..
And we're going to need content to publish from day 1 - so if people keep holding PR submissions back until we move we'll have nothing to publish on the first day, which wouldn't look great.
People keep asking how they can help - well one of the very big ways that they can help is to keep on writing and submitting to h2g2. I'd rather have been writing h2g2 entries than h2g2 business plans over the last few months.
Anyway Thanks!

I've not written anything for years, time I did something. I've a couple of ideas, one inspired by an old conversation I found hanging off my PS from somebody long elvised saying they'd intended to write about living in their (and my) hometown but thought the edited guide rules too restrictive so they never bothered. Time for me to pick up that baton I think.
