Was it you who got Bashiri beardsley, or was that Otto?
I've been known to sign Richard Richards, Jay Kay, John Elton and Neville Southall before now...

No, Bashiri Beardsley was one of mine - but he was a referee.

Ah. I knew that you'd had Tom Jones as a referee, i thought BB was a player, my mistake.

He was one of those referees you complain about after every match and then he gets relegated to the Nationwide.
Like Mike Riley.

On CM01/02 I aleways complain about the referee if he
a) sends any of my players off
b) gives the opposition any penalties
c) gives any of my playuers the booking that gets them a ban
d) is David Elleray

I generally only complain if they turn down lots of penalty appeals (from either team)
I had one genius referee who managed to create the following sequence on the commentary:
- The players appeal for a penalty
- The referee turns it down
- But the assistant referee is flagging
- The referee ignores him
- But the assistant referee is flagging
- The referee ignores him
- But the assistant referee is flagging
- The referee ignores him
It takes a certain sod-mindedness to ignore your own linesman three times.

I still say that's not as bad an offence as "being David Elleray"

There was another game, Ulrtimate Soccer Manger, where, through dishonest business dealings and two-year loan deals I managed to turn Cowdenbeath into the richest and most successful club in Europe wuthin 10 years. That was fun.

Is that the one where your players have a strop at each other because they keep running off with each other's wives, and stealing advertising deals from each other?
Sounds like fun...

Nah, Total NClub Manager's the one where my wingbacks won't talk to each other. USM's from about five years ago, and allows you to bribe other managers and bet on your own games.

rooftiler - back again, for another bit at least Posted May 22, 2003

Hi, hope you don't mind me stopping by.
I just want to say I've been very entertained by this selection of names and would like to propose:
Dean Windass (I believe the first syllable is as in windmill not wind-up) - footballer (previously at Aberdeen FC, think he moved to an English club but not sure).
Cheers

Good one! He variously went to Oxford, Bradford, Middlesbrough and, I think, Sheffield United. I have an odd feeling someone will be along shortly to confirm or deny that last fact...

well, you were wrong about that.
Just popped by to mention that in the first round of Wimbledon this year, 29th seed Gaston Gaudio will play the magnificently named MARDY FISH.

I wonder if he plays doubles with Stern John.
I've reached the pinnacle of my CM3 abilities. Shrewsbury Town in the Premiership after three seasons with a squad of average age 19, including the delightfully named Jojo Fosdyke, an American Samoan international. Bodes well, doesn't it?

Yeah - he's half Spanish, thankfully. He's a damn good centre-back as it happens.
