badges all round...and welcome to the bookclub! thanks for visiting.
As I've never done anything like this before on h2g2 I've no idea how to go about promoting it, but I can't help thinking that listing on the community pages would be nice...anymore ideas anyone? I'm sure a link on the frount page wouldn't go amiss though

I am going to put it on the Talk page this afternoon as one of Abi's activities and then spend at least an hour a day making sure that even those that frequent h2g2's dustiest corners know of your presence.
I also know the lady who maintains the BBC Arts - Books website. Do you think it would be good to try and get a tie in with them?

Well, Abi pointed me this way.......
A quick skim, and I recognise lot's of the books, will enjoy reading others reviews, and hopefully adding a couple of my own.
May take a while, as I'm about to move house doesn't help that I tend to have several books on the go at once

I'd join too. I'll let you know if I read something nice or when I'll find some nice sites outside h2g2...

Abi sent me ... I'm here *waves*
*shudders at thought of packing away 3 1/2 years of book purchases so they can be moved to Scotland*

I know what you mean, before I got bookshelves, I had four piles of books, each 5 foot high, gotta move them next week
e-books are a nice idea, but dont *feel* the same. Would be easier to move though

I'm not alone, I can tell!!
Don't know about the rest of you but when it comes to books I never borrow them nor lend them ... you can have a million pounds any day of the week but you can't borrow my copy of [anything] ... lost too many lending them to people ... learnt the harsh way!
Books are art ... no two people will ever have exactly the same books so a bookshelf is an original piece of art ... you wouldn't lend someone The Mona Lisa's nose so why should you lend them your dog eared copy of Le Petit Prince?

Or Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I have to say I do lend mine out to poeple though. Plus I love to trawl through second hand bookshops for things I have not got or to see what there is it is a lot cheaper and easier to get them that way. I ran into this really amazing one in Carlisle in December me and FC would have needed a whole day to look through the various areas we would have been interested in.
It's right next to the Cathederal incase someone wants to find it or write it up properly.

Ekki you are so right about lending books. *looks fierce* They are mine, all mine I tell you.

Was on holiday in Glastonbury and they have a wonderful second hand book shop, the main floor is the size of about 6 normal shops, then it just goes on upwards, all little staircases and tucked away sections

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted May 14, 2002
Abi pointed me this way so here I am, isn't there another book group knocking around here? Maybe you could join forces. They are reading No Logo just now but I can't remember the link...
Anyway, I would like to play too - going on holiday in a couple of weeks so a beach reading list (not involving Jilly Cooper) would be good!
