I know it's completely for girls and poofs and that EVERYONE has played it over and over and that a bafta (or 8!) is usually a fairly good indiaction of something being tottally overrated...and you're probably going to stick your fingers down your throat at the thought and that no self-respecting (ex?) punk (once a punk always a punk I guess?) would rather swim in a lake of puke than admit that it was any way close to being considered to be anything other that the sugary coated warbleings of some noncey american bird....BUT......
that Norah Jones is a bit of alright...and makes some pretty good shaggin' toons t'boot....(in my view) you given it a chance at all?
JUST MUSIC AND NOTHING ELSE THREAD...
superdogmonkey Posted Apr 1, 2003
As I am not gay or a fop/little girl, Norah jones will not be on my play list! ........ not for me at all, I'm afraid.

come on now....you've not even tried have you.......(in patronising tone)...
(fair enough....I guess)
I must admit - it doesn't take long for me to switch to METALLICA - just for an appropriate counter balance....it's a Yin Yang Thang...(hey...that's a good name for a band)

superdogmonkey Posted Apr 7, 2003
In an equally patronising tone ........ but I have given her a chance ..... 3 singles released from the album are enough for me to make my mind up ....... is this a desperate stab in the dark, knowing I have the W/Stripes but you have nothing left to trade me?

dugdog <a.k.a. - corla planktun...buffer of the tiny ruby> Posted Apr 7, 2003
calm down...calm down - don't you get all on me! (mutter..mutter...threaten me....mutter mutter..new white stripes...mutter)......
The Norah ref was more to do with the fact that she'd been warbling in my head all morning that day - and I just wondered...just happened to cross my mind in an abstract and fairly random way...without giving it much consideration (obviously!) whether you'd given THE ALBUM a chance (rather than radio listening) - I just wanted to see if there was a warm and soft side to the hard-core sdm that we all know and love...
obviously not, I'll back off and get on with the metallica I promised...shame I don't have the facility to burn from my vinyl or I might have considered the 12" if CREEPING DEATH with MY MOTHER WAS A WITCH b-side...would that have been more to sir's taste?
ps got hold of some hard-core Tom Waits you might like.....

The Orb
Portishead
Quiet Neil Young
T. Dream (OOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM)

Dub stuff
M. Attack
See ........!

dugdog <a.k.a. - corla planktun...buffer of the tiny ruby> Posted Apr 7, 2003
ok, now I see... (the T.Dream was the give away)...
no pretensions at country / jazz crossover type songstresses then......ok.

Continuing email list ......... I haven't any dreadzone albums, just some tracks on compilations, so an album would be welcome.
I've got both the N.Young you mentioned.
Orb - got the first two only (classics that are hard to beat) some more would be good.
oh yeah, the Sabres track has been used in a Times advert and also for the london marathon!
What are you after next?
JUST MUSIC AND NOTHING ELSE THREAD...
dugdog <a.k.a. - corla planktun...buffer of the tiny ruby> Posted Apr 10, 2003
YOU HAVEN'T ANY DREADZONE!..you're in for a treat then...three of the finest albums of their type in my view..I reckon the latest one might be up your steet...has the guy from leftfield (can't remember his name) on it......I'd hightly recommend them all
..and Orbus Terrerum...although I should say..not a patch on earlier stuff..still you may find it interesting....
as for what I'm after...ummm I think I'll go for
Sticky Fingers (stones of course)...and umm oh yeah..
New White Stripes?
I must confess...I've been so busy today, I didn't get to the post....so 2moro's the score for sending yours...
also wanted to say (in case you missed email)...I'd bite your hand off for a little four-track...even if it is just for tinkering...more than happy to pay postage for it. Nice one, thanks very much...(maybe I could stretch to 2 pints some day!).
(In view of potential freebie..I'll let your derogatory remarks re "for you it would be fine" slide)
I know what you mean about tinkering when your playing with yourself (infantile snigger)...

sorry to hear about your mail..someones arse would appear to need a good kicking...
re: the damned - just pleasantly surprised to hear them doing a Jefferson Starship number...just didn't seem to fit with the "never trust a hippy" punk ethos....

JUST MUSIC AND NOTHING ELSE THREAD...
superdogmonkey Posted Apr 14, 2003
