h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, the upcoming election is going to put the members of the Flat Cap Society in a real bind. You have several members running for either President or Vice President. And now here I am asking for all of you to vote for me. Decisions, decisions.

I think I would make a good h2g2 President. But whether you decide to vote for me or not, I want you to know how much I enjoyed my visit to Flat Cap territory earlier this year. I fell in love with the north. It is much more like my home than the south of England. And the Flat Cappers I met there were welcoming and showed me a grand time.

The highlight of my visit was being made an honorary Flat Capper during a pub crawl in Bradford. Bagpuss even let me wear his cap!

I am not going to try to bribe you into voting for me. I am leaving all of that to my running mate. But he seems to be rewarding pledged supporters quite handsomely. And if you decide to vote for one of your other friends, then please consider putting my name in second place on your ballots.

'Appen I was lucky enough to meet Hypatia and go to Haworth, Saltaire and Bradford with her during her trip to Flat Cap territory, which is why I am now serving on her campaign team as Spinmeister.

The candidate has spoken very eloquently for herself, but I would just like to add that I witnessed the incident with the real flat cap, and it suited Hyp very well. She threw herself eagerly into sampling true northern culture, and was keen to taste local delicacies like and chips. I was there when she tried a Bradford curry - and said that she thought it was a bit mild! So that proves that here you have a brave candidate with the stomach to get the job done. I urge you to vote for Hypatia - a grand lass.

I've shown both devotion and alcohol consumption above and beyond the call of duty, and as a long term member of the flat cap club, I did for over a year live in Manchester, and attend many of the inorgeral Flat Cap meets, such as the spring onion and the Raddish and the Mancehster Mini meets I have my very own flat cap which I wear with pride, even though, living where I do in the south of the UK, it often causes me to get in many fights after drinking a gallon and a half o f beer with these softy southereners support the raving party, and get more free booze than any other party offers we are also pledged to having more double entendre than any other part <
