A Conversation for Speeding in Pennsylvania

When I was tagged in Philadelphia for doing 31 miles above the speed limit I consulted with a lawyer. It was explained to me that 31 or more miles over the speed limit was an automatic suspension of licence. I went to court to plea bargain, and got it lowered.
Before you judge me to harshly, let me point out that the average speed on this psuedo-expressway is 15 to 20 miles above the speed limit.

That's pretty standard. We generally jail people for over going 30 over.

No that's how we figure out what the speed it. I asked you how fast you were going !
That reminds me of joke from when I was in Radar Instructor School.
Officer: Do you know how fast you were going?
Driver: Maybe 65 milies per hour.
Officer: You're damn right (as he rights that speed on the ticket).

Actually, section 1538 of the state's vehicle code does talk about this:
'When any person is convicted of driving 31 miles per hour or more in excess of the speed limit, the department (of transportation) shall require the person to attend a departmental hearing.
The examiner may recommend at least one of the following
- driving school
- an examination
- a 15-day suspension
Not attending the hearing or driving school will get you a 60 day suspension. Flunking the exam will get you a suspension until you pass the test.

Actually, it was the South End of Lincoln Drive in Philadelphia.

Ah.
My next guess would have been I-95 or Roosevelt Blvd.
The Sure-Kill always seemed the most dangerous to me, but when I was driving it (while my wife was in college) it was under construction and really wicked!

I'm thinking that you'll not like the answer, but I'll check back on Monday once I check my vehicle code...
But if I recall from the entry, you'll be looking at 5 points and a summons to appear before the local district justice.
