Hello Emmily
I'm new to this site and would like to volunteer to be a sub-editor. I saw on the Front Page that h2g2 is looking for new people, but my first dismal attempt at making contact seems to have generated an automated response saying there are no vacant posts at the moment - and I can't find an identified recruitment link. Oh dear - is this all part of an h2g2 intelligence test?
Looking forward to benefiting from your help.
Many thanks,
vine_user

hi vine_user
Thanks for your interest in volunteering as a sub-editor. Unfortunately the recruitment has now finished, as the latest message on the front page is
'We've now finished recruiting for sub-editors for this period. Thanks to everyone who volunteered!'
I think you were probably a little new to the site for that round of recruitment
If you'd like to spend some time at PeerReview finding out the kind of entries that sub-editers deal with, and also if you haven't already done so you could read Subeditors and the relating pages about what being a sub-editor entails, and maybe next time they are recruiting sub-editors you could try volunteering again.
There's a link for Writing-Guidelines and <./>RandomEditedEntry</.> in my ACE Welcome, but I'll include them here too.
I noticed you hadn't received an ACE greeting. I have left one on your page.
I also noticed that your interest in volunteering for sub-editor you had posted on your page, sorry but that would only have been seen by people visting your page. (Unless you unsubscibed from the volunteer threads)
If there's anything else I can do to help, just ask I'll be happy to help.

Hi vine_user
Emmily asked me to pop by with advice about subbing. Seems she has pretty well got it covered
You would need to be good at Guide ML (see <./>guideML-clinic</.>.
They will also expect you to have shown input into the site, via the community but in particular commenting in peer review or even submitting some entries yourself!
They are going to review one or two current applications in a month or so, but a full new recruitment probably won't happen for a while. I think they intend to do it 2 or 3 times a year - but that is an estimate. Priority is always given to those that have shown participation and understanding of the Edited Guide and it's processes
Hope that helps!!
Mort
