Jeez, Ben, all of a suddy you're doing more CAC scouting in one day than the Committee has done for weeks.

The bad news is we're taking a summer vacation. This coming Thursday's issue has gone off to shazz.

The good news is that these threads with your links will be here when we start up again in the fall.

And the TRUTH is, in the meantime YOU could be our summer editor and be putting together the CAC page for a few weeks if you wanted to. Just copy and paste from a recent issue to get the format and insert your own editorial and links. Go for it! You can even change the name to "The Underguide" or make all sorts of other evolutionary changes if you like. Our heart is an open book.

Okie dokie. I don't mind spending the summer up to my neck in CAC!

Presumably I need to liaise with Shazz.

Do you just link to the entry as it exists, or do you copy it and make a new one like the Post does?

How often does this happen? Weekly, (weakly), or fortnightly or what?

When are Shazz's deadlines?

Cheers

Yes, liaise with shazz. She'll like that. smiley - winkeye

Deadlines are every Monday for the Thursday of each week.

Links can be direct to the original if you think the entry is readable as is and that it will survive the author's deletion impulses. We worry about broken links that might cause whole CAC pages to be 'moderated' and subsequently removed from the Archives to the detriment of the page's other content.

Making a copy of each entry ensures you have editorial control. It's a judgement call, but sometimes the pound of prevention is worth the ounce of cure. Always include the original author's U-number in the 'set researchers' of any piece you copy.

You can do all this as Ben - smiley - thepost makes their own copy of your finished page when you tell them where to find it - and if you want to log on as AGGGAG the password is AGGGAG. If you create pages as U187783 be sure to set your own U-number as 'writer/researcher'.

tonsil revenge has just found out about my 'holiday' from CAC and is offering to take up some slack, but he is already quite busy with Escape Pod Dreams and regular contributions to the WWC cartoons.

In any case don't feel it is imperative to take on this burden. We have been in smiley - thepost every week for the past two years and I suspect we are pretty much overlooked and taken for granted lately with all the new features and contributions the POST has sprouted recently. The visibility of smiley - thepost and access to smiley - thepost has so greatly improved over time that the issue of not being seen or heard around here is less traumatic than when we started up.

I was planning a new look and maybe a new name for the fall comeback. Maybe even steal the name Underguide if nothing further had happened with that plan. But as long as the basic AggGag philosophy of Robin Hooding for the underdog is at the heart of the page, it doesn't matter what it's called or what it looks like. Your scouting is exactly the spirit we encourage and perhaps you are the one to give us a new look, a new voice to get out our message and carry on for a bit.

The power is thrust upon thee. Go fourth and so firth.

You want me to go fourth and sew froth?

Ok!

I will do as you have instructed, oh master. I think I have an email addy for (tr) and am very happy to liaise with him as well as with Shazz.

The UnderGuide is about to burst upon us in a blaze of glory. How about renaming AGG/GAG/CAC the Undergrowth? Or the the Hinterlands?

Have a good time while you are away, and I will spend a few hours over the w/e on this.

Cheers

Ben

Dip me in honey and throw me to the liaisons! smiley - cheers

You should call it "agcB's AGG/GAG/CAC." We'll get the whole pesky alphabet in our acronym one of these days, by golly!
