Had my feet nibbled by a load of fish today.
It was a Christmas present from my daughter - I must have mentioned one time on passing one of these places that I'd love to try it, so she gave me a voucher. And as I was our shopping for shoes with my son today, decided to give it a go.
First and last time, I reckon!
When I put my feet in the tank, all these fish latched on and started nibbling. It was INCREDIBLY tickly. And it just kept going. And going.
I'd asked H to take photos for me, and the resulting snaps of my face in various contortions, and my fingers clawing at my thighs, tell the story in spades.
Not sure the results are worth the agony, to be honest.

Is having your toes nibbled by fish supposed to be therapeutic, or something?
I'm familiar with this from lake swimming, but doind it deliberately...did somebody pay for this experience?... (I'll stop laughing in a minute.)

Those places are becomming more common. I must admit to a certain amount of curiosity about them. But I'm very ticklish myself. And I don't imagine most of the claimed health benefits would stand up to scruitiny.

I read a news story that those things aren't to be trusted because you can't sterilise or sanitise a fish's mouth, the way you can a tattoo needle or a piece of medical equipment. Do they change the water between treatments? I don't really see how they could, without stressing the fish beyond what any self respecting animal rights activist would consider okay.

Yeah, I'm not in a hurry back!
I was chanting to my son (who was gleefully taking photos of my face and knuckles)
"I've had 2 children! I've had a tattoo! I've ridden a Harley across Florida and lunched with an astronaut! I've crossed the River Gambia on the Banjul-Barra ferry! I can do this!"

I read about this somewhere, but I haven't heard of this being offered in Germany. I'm not sure I'd want to try it anyway.

Te really weird thing is you're meant to do it in the middle of a shopping centre.

Yes please, Guide Entry! Especially if you have photos
There's one of these spas a couple of yards along the beach road from my house, but so far I've not been tempted.

I know that Sol had one of these for her Birthday present and rather enjoyed it.

Great photo! Yes, a guide entry, please.
I found a very funny personal account on the web yesterday (you intrigued me):

Apparently, they've been doing it for a long time in Turkey and Abu Dhabi.

I think azahar and Teuchter had their feet nibbled a few years ago. Azahar might have written a blog post about it.
