Did a bit of fantasy chopping today at lunchtime.
And yes i know was extolling the virtues of public transport yesterday! But we're anticipating the time when daughter has a full year's no claims discount. And therefore insurance in her own name would be vaguely affordable. So she could have our currently shared C1, and I can buy a mad mid-age crisis type sporty number!
So we went and had a look at a couple of Mazda MX5s today at lunchtime. But I got distracted by some gorgeous Peugeot 207 convertibles. And apparently am useless at negotiating cos I gave away exactly how I felt to the salesman (when we eventually found one - wandered around the forecourt for 10 mins before I set off to find someone to help us...)
The problem is, I keep thinking in terms of practicality and usability, whereas Dai keeps reminding me that this is supposed to be a mad car.
I just can't do insanity, I keep looking at the capacity of the boot space, and the miles per gallon.
Thankfully Dai has enough insanity for both of us.

Friend has one, and yes they are fun. But sooner or later you're *really* gonna hate that boot! It's just about big enough for one bag of shopping or a We went hillwalking once and he drove us in his MX5... took us about 10 mins to crush our kit into the boot... and no there's no room anywhere else either (apart from your lap). But as long as you're never going anywhere in it where you want to take or return anything, it's a great car!!

The MX5 is winning on the "holds its residual value" column (I did say I'm the practical head)
But I also want to look at the Vauxhall Tigra

I had an MX5 when they only came in red and blue (mine was red) and had pop up headlights and came in one and one only version.
I used to go camping with it and the trick is to pack the boot and not use bags (although we did get a boot rack for when we went for more than a weekend)
totally totally fun car to have, especially then when there wern't so many.
Key: Complain about this post
