Opening night last night went well!
Apparently the set is magnificent, and even incorprates bits of the Game of Thrones set

Slight complication: I've had a surprise visitor announce himself for tomorrow; he apparently plans to stay for several weeks.
But since it's such short notice, he's just going to have to amuse himself. Nice kid, but bad timing...

The first time I ever saw WSS was a school production, and they had somehow contrived the most awesome set, with two levels, a balcony running across the entire downstage and firemens' poles.
Have just had a lexical crisis about the use of firemens' in that sentence. Can't work out what the correct usage of fireman/firemen + apostrophe is. Is this a sign of getting old?

I was trying to contact you about that Mala - getting a bit late to re-jig plans, so I guess we'll go with the original arrangements.

Definitely - if it's this short notice, it's his own fault if I have plans.

I'm sure there'll be tickets available on the door, if he wants to come with!
Yes I'll do a write up in The post, but Jem was so bubbly after the opening night last night, talking about how the "One hand one heart" scene remind her of the "pilgrims hands do touch" that she was saying this time last week...

I wouldn't count on it though, Bea! I know quite a few people who are all going independently. I suspect it might be a bit of a sell out!
All to see J, no doubt.

Hmmm, well, I'll bring him along anyway, if nobody minds. Provided he's arrived by then, no idea which ferry he's taking.

Malabarista - now with added pony Posted Oct 27, 2011
Yes. Either he's arriving by the 7.00 ferry tomorrow morning, in which case we have time to figure it out, or it's the 7.00 pm ferry, in which case, I'll collect him somewhere afterward.

Thanks for the tickets, Bea. That was very enjoyable! J did the biz, too. She always stands out a wee bit on stage!
And what's all the more, I left with an increased awareness of "the prevailing errors of our time".

Ah yes, I knew there was something I meant to google this morning!

Ok, but we're rambling well off-topic then! The show took place in a church. When we were outside at the intermission we were a bit tickled by the dedication inscription above the door to Rev. Henry Cooke "for his labors against the prevailing errors of our time".
Not many people in Belfast probably know Henry Cooke by name, but everyone knows "The Black Man" - the statue of him that's a well-known landmark. http://v16.lscache6.c.bigcache.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/50768790.jpg (The building behind him is bureaucratically named "Belfast Metropolitan College", but to anyone from Belfast it's just "the Black Man Tech".)

Thanks for enlightening me.
Your photo is fascinating, not only because of the architecture and statuary, but also because of the sign...I've never seen anything like that before...
