What a wonderful, magical day!
Woke up to a frosty morning - icy roofs and glittering graveyard from my bedroom window.
Lazy morning in bed, finishing my book (Dead Air), and drinking loads of cups of tea.
Cards in the post, then off to Downpatrick, seat of Ireland's patron saint. . Smiled at the winter sunshine glinting across the drumlins while we sang along to Solstice Bells. Dai always makes me a Christmas CD full of different, not played-to-death stuff. Louis Armstrong's "Dat you, Santa Claus?"is my fave this year.
Found a car parking space right outside my favourite boutique, with a "sale" sign in the window. Bought a fabulous outfit (ankle length funky grey-green skirt, white shirt and gorgeous green knitted sweater). Then popped into the menswear shop across the road, seduced in by a £10 sweater in the window, but left with an equally fabulous outfit for Dai. Dont know if I can let him out in it - I'll be beating the competition off with a stick!
Quick zoom around Asda, picking up bits and pieces of Christmassy cakes, sweets, cheeses, port...and a recipe that we're going to adapt for the day itself: slow-cooked venison stew with chestnuts and mushrooms.
Then to the Downpatrick rail museum, for a special Santa steam train, complete with singing of Jingle Bells, comments on how Hogwartsy it was, and me shouting something inappropriate when Santa said "What does Rudolf have a big red one of?" That's me on the naughty list then
Very evocative steam train puffing through the magical December afternoon sunshine. Great Santas (Santae?) - not rushed, spent lots of time with C, telling him to leave out chocolate chip cookies, really believable...
Just cooked peppered steaks with garlic butter, braised cabbage and cheesy mash. And now we're gonna get on our new togs and head to the party in our local, where everybody knows our name
Really feeling the Christmas spirit today - hope you are too

Alot of hard work and organisation goes in to being able to give yourself a day like that. The weather and sales you can't influence, mind you, so perhaps you ought to change your name back. You certainly are a lucky !!
O Waily Waily (I got "The Wintersmith" for my birthday recently and read it immediately) ... I wish I had the chance to get organised!

Now that sounds like my perfect Sunday, especially after a fab saturday night on the tiles. Hope you have many more just like it.
