Farewell to Holywood.
Beatrice Started conversation Nov 28, 2006
Moved out yesterday.
Mixed emotions, naturally enough. Feeling very smug that I made a large amount of money in such a short time. Feeling very excited about the future - new house etc. Sad at the memories of the nasty bits of the past year (it has been rather a roller coaster)
Sorting out all the things we had "doubles" of - 2 bottles of balsamic vinegar, no problem we can use those. But 2 irons, mops and buckets, fondue sets....our local charity shop's going to be inundated!
Farewell to Holywood.

Indeedy
Had a quick shufti round the new house earlier - noticed that they'd followed my instruction to move the door into the bedroom (which results in far better and more usable space). In fact, the site manager said they'd be doing that in future houses they'd be building...I said I'll happily negotiate a rate of commission.
Now back to the compromises: he has a delicate and minimalist Christmas tree, I want one that I can hang all our traditional baubles on. We choose a new one each year, so it's a very important part of Christmas for me to get all the old balls out and bring back happy memories.

Oh, you're in the new place now then? I thought you were just moving out of Holywood. And yes, it wouldn't be Christmas without the traditional old balls.

Ooo you've a spare mop? don't suppose you've a spare broom and dustpan and brush as well? Hmm... probalby cost more to post em to me than it would to get me off my lazy arse to go buy new ones myself heres hoping the move and things go as smoothly as is ever possible with such things

Exciting! Don't forget to be a little girl again and just play "house" - forget things like mortgages and enjoy the newness and the perfectness and the throwing out of old stuff, making it pretty, etc.
And what a saving! You can do all your "New Address" post with your Christmas cards.
Here's some things you might need for the new house:

And let's hope there are less:

Thanks guys!
Yes my Christmas cards this year combine new address and giving away my George Best fivers to nephews and nieces. I've moved into Dai's place while our brand new house is being finished - we've just spent our first week together without any nights apart .
Bought a Christmas tree together - a black one which looks very smart with its gold and red decorations. It's twinkling in the corner as I write this, and I had tears in my eyes as we put it up.
