And just to prove that I am working on it, I spend this morning (before the rains came!) refiting the back lights and the petrol tank.
Just that little bit closer!!!

Cool - perhaps you could extend A307144 with "How to restore a Triumph GT6", as that would be of use to me. Especially getting the blasted gearbox back in again

Ah gearboxes!!. There are two methods commonly used, in the first the gearbox is taken out through the car. The advantages of this method are that the bonnet and engine do not have to be removed, however there is alway a chance that oil will contaminate the cockpit during removal, also the bellhousing often fouls on the lower part of the heater assembly (the severty of this seems to vary from car to car). The second method is the conventional one of removing the engine/gearbox as one lump. The advantage of this method is that the cockpit stays clean, no damage been done to seats, carpet, trim etc. The disavantages are that the bonnet normally needs to be removed and the engine/gearbox unit is very heavy.
I normally use the second method on mine 'cos my gearbox bellhousing fouls the heater matrix which means that the gearbox comes out at an angle and is more likly to spill oil.
Hope this helps!
Anthony

Am I too late to join in? I've only just found this place. I have an Alfa Romeo Sportwagon. It's got the selespeed semi-automatic gearbox which is an absolute hoot to use.

Hello, I would love to join your club. Cars are a mjor part of my life, and I (stupidly) didnt think there would be anyone on here who would be interested in cars, let alone understand the workings of the internal combustion engine!
Please Mrs Cloud, may I come in? I have left an offering in the Favourite Cars discussion for your consideration.
Thank you

" I felt a cold shiver. I was drawn to the attic window. I undid the clasp on the window sill and pushed the glass open. A cold, evil (and quite annoying) wind blows in. It's a cold wind, a bad wind. The kind of wind that makes it hard to talk to the people around you.
You opened the window, now the car club has to deal with the consequences.

Hello, just found my way here, and would like to join.
I am an American fan of British cars. Otherwise known as a masochist. My particular facination is the Austin-Healey Bugeye sprite, but my tastes run the full range.
