Well, the 24th - that was my due date come and gone. I'm not complaining though, I'm still enjoying the freedom of being off work and getting things ready. Yes, I'm a bit heavy and uncomfortable but I think I've had it pretty easy when I compare myself to others.
h2g2 has rather taken a back seat recently. In fact, anything I usually did on my PC has - including Skyrim, which was bought partly to make sure I didn't get bored during my maternity leave. I just don't want to switch it on! Now I've set up my swanky phone to check my emails for me I've just lost all interest.
I guess it's a good sign, as I'm not sat on Skype worrying about things, or burning myself out writing moderation manuals and so on. I'm actually quite relaxed, happy, and not stressed about h2g2, which is a novelty. I'll have plenty to be stressed about in the future, I'm rather enjoying this little break!
Anyway, long story short - I'm not around as much. I see it as an extended lunch break, not as a permanent departure, but I'm not making any promises or deadlines. You'll see me when you see me. *waves*
All the best to all of you,
Vip

Have a gorgeous lunch break, and come back when you are hungry again. Oh, wait, that didn't work out right...
Anyway, enjoy your time with the baby. There is only one piece of advice I wish I had listened to as a new mama:
Sleep when the baby sleeps.
It's essential. First week, you are so high on hormones, that you think you don't need the sleep, even if you are deprived. Then as you gradually get off those hormones and feel the sleepiness, the baby starts to wake up more. So, get all the sleep you can.
hugs and kisses!

There's only one piece of advice from me too, but it's an important one:
*clears throat*
Don't under any circumstances feed them courgettes - at least not until they're fully toilet trained.

That sounds like a story which I have absolutely no desire to hear.
Good luck, Vip, and my moneys on 7 pounds 1 ounce.

I am subbed to this thread and hope for news the moment someone can report back. Good luck Vip, and I always found no problem sleeping, just that I kept being woken up.
We miss you here on h2g2!

The fact that Vippy's been referring to it as a 'he' was a bit of a giveaway.
Plus, I'm sure I remember a conversation a while back expressing surprise that it was a boy when she was sure it's a girl or something.
Although that could be one of my other pregnant friends.

That was me- I had got it in my head it was a girl so I'm rather glad I knew beforehand so it won't be such a shock come the day!
No predictions from me. Apparently is measuring small for his date according to three tape measure, but a scan revealed he had long legs (and is perfectly OK in there, regardless of what he measures). Make of that what you will!
I've just had a lovely afternoon in town picking up a few things, and even walked back in the sunshine. A lovely day.

*twiddles thumbs*
41 weeks today, but no movement downwards yet. Not that this is concerning or unusual in babies, I know, but I do rather want to avoid inducement if at all possible. Still, he's got a few days yet...
