I am living in India and my landlord is currently looking for a husband for his daughter. As soon as they find a suitable candidate the first thing is to go to the astrologer and see whether the horoscopes match...and then they start talking about the money...

Yeah, my dad works with some Indians in the States. A few of them take it very seriously - one guy won't travel until his horoscope says it's the right time, then he'll do it in the astrology-approved fashion. He'd probably choose his son-in-law the same way.. I think it depends partly on what part of India they're from.

It depends on the way the person is brought up more than anything else. But it's more or less uniform in density throughout INDIA and may I say most of the world.
Anyway, it is their life - they choose.
