Sorry to be away for so long. Just got back from vacation and am getting back in the rythm of things again. Anyway, as far as the quote goes, here's some more hints.

1. the movie takes place in San Francisco
2. the quote is being said by the father in the movie( who is being played by the same actor as the lead. ie the two character are being played by the same actor.)
3. the SNL actor has had some rather famous movies recently

So is the star Mike Myers? or possibly Adam Sandler?

points go to Swiv. The actor is in fact Mike Myers. Congratulations! To help with the quote, it's from a movie before the austin powers fame, and no it's not wayne's world either. Maybe this is too much but, Nancy Travis also stars in this movie.

I'm not sure we've got Doc Wabbit's yet, but I think Broe's is from Young Frankenstein and it would have been said by Gene Wilder. (if indeed it actually is from Young Frankenstein)

Ok, well, I don't KNOW any Mike Myers films other than Austin Powers and Wayne's World - so I'm stuck...

the only other one that comes to mind is 'so i married an axe murderer', but i haven't bothered to watch it, so i can't say that's it.

Broelan, it's a shame you haven't watched "so I married an axe murderer" because that's the movie. The quote is said by that dad in the movie in reference to mike myer's character's brother. Anyway, this is a great movie because it's the first movie where Mike plays multiple characters in one movie, and the scottish dad has to be one his greatest impersonations. As you can tell, i highly recommend this movie. Congratulations again.

long time no see i'm sure you've been around and we just don't lurk in the same corners of h2g2 on a regular basis.

i'm not so sure your quote is 'too easy', if i hadn't come across it recently i probably wouldn't know it. the first line is ming's daughter and the second line emperor ming from 'flash gordon'.

i found it because i was digging through imdb for the exact wording to quote the doctor when he explained how he was reciting the words to beatles tunes among other things while they were trying to erase his memory 'because they can't take that away' or something to that effect. obviously, the quote i was looking for wasn't listed, because i was going to post it here (and posted the rocky horror quote instead).

Saw the new Star Trek film today; kept expecting the baddie to kick into the Time Warp; quite the Tim Curry thing he has going.

Blacked out twice whilst watching Harvey just after Christmas. I blame the sudden temperature change from lounge to loo, and not the sloe gin at all.
