Today I got swept off my feet by Sir Roland!
Litterally. He darted behind me as I was holding his leash and down I went. He gave me a kiss and waited for me to get back up.
Sir Roland is one of the rescue beagles at Beagle 911, this charity I'm volunteering with. They take abandoned beagles, beagles with health problems, beagles that are about to be put down at the pound because no one will adopt them-any beagles they have space for, foster them, and adopt them out to good homes. We were out at the Penn State football game today, trying to build public awareness for the problems these poor little guys face, getting the name of our organization out, and maybe find one of our boys a forever home.
Not a lot of people were looking to adopt- some people (like me) don't have enlightened landlords that will allow a little fuzzball to share the apartment, some people have other dogs, and some... well inexplicably don't like dogs. But we got the word out, and I found a family that was very interested in Roland, and he seemed to like them as well.
I'm tired- they wore me out dragging me all over the parking lot!

You like getting tripped up and then having your face licked? I mean hell I'd do that if you wanted whadya need a beagle for?
Anyway if I had a beagle I'd have to get him a red kennel and a flying helmet and gogles and train him to say "Drat you Red Baron"

Yes, but you're not in central PA- and besides, the licking thing only really works for me if you're small, furry, and have big brown eyes.

Oog... I didn't realize how sore I was! I had to get up at 3 AM and take an advil, just so I could get back to sleep last night!
I hope those dogs didn't leave me too tired for the field trip!

Ompah got adopted today!
He was Roland's buddy, and one I used to walk all the time. He went to a family that previously adopted a beagle from the rescue who needed a buddy.
His new name is Opie- to go with Barney. And if you get that, you're either old, or a nerd like me, or both.

Dear Scandrea,
What a lovely story of Sir Roland.!!
Has he got huge, big floppy ears?
I have never owned one, but I have heard that there are things called beagle hunts which means that people go on foot. with a pack of beagles and hunt for - goodness knows what. I think it is done in Yorkshire.
Is that what they are used for in the States?
Thank you for your message about my brother.
Incidentally, what did you decide about Egypt? and what job have you decided to take?
very sincerely,
Christiane Ar1
Do you still have your blog.? It was on this tht I met you but I do not know how to get onto it again!!. I have forgotten I fear.
