The "delicacy" of dancing around the fact that an immigrant family is not only violating the law but in fact doing something REALLY BAD TO THEIR CHILDREN is sickening.
"Adults" are supposed to be intelligent, caring and nurturing.
Cultures that turn adults into overgrown children who torture undergrown children are not cultures. They are growths.
That is as polite as I can put it.
Anyone who believes that female genitalia, as it comes out of the womb, needs to be customized immediately or within a decade, is OUT OF THEIR MIND.
Still trying to be polite.
Any female who has suffered such a customization who then chooses to have the same done to her daughter, is SO BRAINWASHED AS TO BE USELESS AS A MOTHER.
A little less polite.
CHILDREN HAVE RIGHTS
There can be no other viewpoint.
WOMEN HAVE RIGHTS
Unless they chose to turn their brains into mush.
The horror of the situation cannot be modified by numbers. As long as even one female child is being mutilated anywhere this year, it is too much.
Next week I will deal with the morons who think that circumcizing boys in their teens is a really good idea.
Right now I will just reiterate my standard position that any unnecessary surgery, even elective, is criminal.
Oh, by the way, I have a new kitten. His name is Spidder. I didn't name him. He's black and tiny and busy.

and the idea of a grandmother stealing a child away to have a tradition performed without the mother's permission only to return the child so that the mummy can deal with the bleeding, crying... and so forth, is just...
I have no words.
This is worse than murder.
It is perversion beyond pornography or prostitution. It is a form of rape. Not just of a female's body, but of her mind.
The fact that there is politics involved makes it even more disgusting.
Anyone who tells you that religion is not politics is either lying or trying to sell you something or both.

I'm not sure I comprehend the entire, um, article, but I reciprocate the feeling.
Why do you have to be against something in order to be for something?
Why does fashion have to overcome sense?
Why does addiction have to overcome health, yours and others?
Well I do know the answer to that one.
People are addicted to stupidity. They institutionalize it and then call it tradition. or activism.

I first heard of this many years ago in a book about Bantu customs, although I don't think the procedures included infibulation, which sounds the most awful thing.
The women who carry out this are called 'cutters'. I did hear a story about some work being done to convince these cutters that they are not carrying out divine work and that they are doing real harm to these children. There was a story about one ex-cutter who, now convinced that the work was harmful, was trying to find and apologise to each woman she had cut. She was also working to convince other cutters.
Spidder?

A childish pronunciation of spider.
He is a bit gangly.
I was just having an Email conversation with a Black Polish Catholic friend of mine from High School who is married to an Islamic Turk.
She said Western "cultures" should clean up their own medical acts before they start messing around with older "cultures".
