Hello,
I've been listening to this excellent radio play on BBC Radio 4 called "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time." It's about a 15 year old boy with Asperger's, trying to solve the murder of his neighbor's dog. I wish I had thought to tell you about it sooner. I'm not sure if all the episodes will be available on the web, but maybe the story will still interest you if you hear it from the middle.

It's listed under "Book at Bedtime" on this archive page:

It's a really good story, whether or not a person is interested in Asperger's. I've been trying to recommend it to friends and to my wife, but none of them are really fans of radio plays, or anything involving British accents.
Later,
Deidzoeb

Thank you.
Strangely, I seem to have read about it somewhere in my meanderings through the Beeb.
I've been having trouble with my Real Media player and auntie, but I will give it a try.
Uvula, the mother of my child and the Queen of the Obvious, curiously is very addicted to British television, but she has a problem with listening when there is no picture.
Thus, I have never really been able to share the Goons with her, while for some reason she actually sat and listened to my Uncle Mort in the North Country episodes...

I listened to two segments of it, the bit with the letters and the bit with the train station.
I don't think I'll listen to anymore.
It makes me itchy. And it reminds me of the problems I have with "normal" people.
They can be so smug in their simple knowledge and so trying when you try to get a simple answer.
I have sensation overloads still occasionally, though as I've gotten older and deafer, it happens much less then it used to. Plus, I usually carry earplugs.
And I still can't get over the idea that when people make statements of opinion or talking just to be talking that they are not being factual or making promises. I still have that problem with the wife and the child.
If I'm paying attention to what you are saying, then I think you should be, too.
Anyway, thanks for the opportunity.

Oh well. I can see why it might be uncomfortable to listen to.
Should I try to seek out the Goons somewhere on BBC archives? I've heard of them, but haven't tried them yet.

The Goon Show is absolutely essential.
It influenced the Beatles, Beyond the Fringe, Python, you name it.
It influenced me no end.
I think BBC7 has it occasionally.

So I guess I need to find out about these "Beatles" and "Beyond the Fringe" and "Python" of which you speak?
No, seriously, I haven't heard of Beyond the Fringe. Is that something else from BBC?

That was Cook and Moore and some doctor guy named Jonathon something.
It did the west end and then crossed the big pond to off-Broadway in the early sixties.
I'll see what I can find.
